Current best/old faves in YYC

These are all such wonderful suggestions, thank you! I have not yet been to the steakhouse in Longview, and what a great time to go. The drive is lovely as long as the roads are okay.
I haven't tried the Bison in Banff yet either, so those are two good road trip suggestions. Inglewood and Marda Loop are also on the list now. Thanks!

Current best/old faves in YYC

As I mentioned in my NYE post, I have a Seattle foodie visiting for the holidays. I'm looking for recommendations of restaurants in Calgary, Canmore and Banff that never fail to please. Also, hoping not to break the bank so choices so I know that narrows the field a little. Lunch or dinner, any kind of food... what are your faves?

NYE in Calgary

Any recommendations for a New Year's Eve event in Calgary? I have a Seattle foodie with me for the holidays so I definitely want to choose a place with great food, BUT ambience and fun will also be a factor. I'm looking for a 3 or 4 course meal plus some entertainment (possiblity of dancing?). We're in the 35-40 age category, so that (and the food!) crosses a lot of events off my list right away. Also - anything under $100 each would be preferable.

It may be a tall order, but I'm finding the search to more difficult than anticipated. Any suggestions or leads are appreciated.

Kelowna Restaurants

I've already searched through this board for ideas on restaurants to try on my upcoming visit to Kelowna. Each suggestion that I've checked out, however, doesn't seem to really meet what I'm after...

Quite simply I'm looking for a non-chain restaurant with a patio - nice atmosphere, maybe even kind of fun and relaxed, good service, well-prepared, tasty food with at least a couple of selections that a pre-teen might recognize on the menu...

Bouchon's Bistro, Old Vines and even RauDZ all seem a bit too... I don't know, I'm sure the food is amazing but it's just not the atmosphere and style of dining that we enjoy on our relaxed vacation with the kids.

Suggestions?

Calgary -- Indochine on 10th Street NW: another disappointing experience

Wow! Seems like I was just there not too long ago... things change fast in Calgary!

Village Pita Bakery, Calgary: The best chicken shawarma I've ever had.

Better than Tazza? I'll have to check it out...

Calgary -- Indochine on 10th Street NW: another disappointing experience

Indochine? Is this the place that *used* to be in Banker's Hall where the Orchid Room now is?

The Orchid Room does have great food, but it's a little too pricey for me also. For Vietnamese food in a somewhat nice atmosphere I generally pick Tamarine (on 8th and.. 5th SW?), but then again I work near there and it's handy for me. I'm not a big fan of Oriental Phoenix.

Valentine's Day in Calgary

Sultan's Tent is back? That's great news, I hope. I have never been to Morrocan Castle, but I did find Sultan's Tent to be better overall than Casbah.

best pizza in calgary?

Thin crust, very tasty and the price is right! They have 5 or 6 pies on their menu, I think, and all are fairly classic.

Just going to have to check it out, Yen. Last time I was there I had a peppercorn burger that was also delish!! Maybe next time I'll try one of their Italian subs...

best pizza in calgary?

I'm a big fan of the pizza at Nicastro's (2418 Edmonton Trail NE). That said, I still haven't tried the pizza yet at Pulcinella or Il Centro..

Birthday dinner in Boston

So here's my short list so far:
Euno
Trattoria Toscana
Grotto
Terramia

Still looking for suggestions... my bf says not to worry about price for this special night out, but we still aren't looking for anything stuffy and requiring us to dress up too much. We're looking for casually elegant, intimate, romantic.. great food and service and not too far from Orpheum theatre by cab.

Birthday dinner in Boston

Two very nice suggestions, thank you. We were thinking of saving Trattoria Toscana for dinner before the ball game since we'll be in the area, but does it get very busy on game days? Is Trattoria very casual, there are no pictures on the web.

Birthday dinner in Boston

Hi, I'm looking for suggestions on a nice place for a birthday dinner in Boston. We'll be going to a concert at the Orpheum theatre afterwards so it would be great if it was within walking distance, short cab or train ride.

Also, I'd prefer something a little understated and not too pricey. I'd rather the focus be on great food, ambience and service than be pretentious and ridiculously expensive. And yes, it is MY birthday.

Thanks for any suggestions.
