The new Yuccas (Yucas?) on Hollywood across from Cobras and Matadors has vegie burritos w/ lard free beans and tortillas. My veg friends swear by them.

ISO Pumpkin Pancakes
I did have them at Mimi's. Batter was delicious - a little thicker than I like my pancakes, I prefer them on the thinner side. But they were tasty, right amount of spice in the mix.
sandwiches at zanzabelle?
Sandwiches are tasty and the owner reports he'll try to change the menu weekly. The day I tried, there was a marinated mozzarella w/ arugala, a great vegie sandwich w/ white bean spread and 2 others. Bread I believe, is from Breadbar. Owner has success as a local caterer and wanted to establish storefront. Variety is limited as the kitchen space can't accomodate full-on cooking. Only complaints are the huge amount of plastic wrap used on sandwiches - and the price - $8 + tax feels pricey for a sandwich and scoop of chips or a teeny scoop of orzo salad (which feels like carb overkill with all that bread from sandwich). I think owner is going to expand into a making a couple of salads and a fresh soup which will be definitely worth a try.

Love it also - whatever you do though, don't ask for to go orders. At lunch the other day a business woman was refused an order and left taco-less because owners said the tacos are meant to be eaten fresh and they won't do take out.

Whole Foods in Glendale has them - hard to find - tucked up on a top shelf near their coffee counter. Not a large selection - smaller bottles in 3-4 flavors.

Looking for a good Armenian grocery store in Glendale for huge quantity of yogurt & lavosh.

Birthday lunch in Pasadena
Julienne in South Pas/San Marino on Mission. Lovely spot - nice lunch/breakfast. They'll do a nice birthday thing if you let them know ahead of time.
MILK question..
THey have fantastic travelling freezer bags w/ their logo on them. (They may be a little pricey - can't remember) Bought one & filled it w/ a couple of pints of ice cream - made a great hostess/host gift.

Hansens cakes & Rosebud cakes are both delicious and can do anything you want in terms of size, design, flavors etc. (Rosebud did an enormous dinosaur cake for our son's 4th that was fantastic to look at & delicious to eat) Both are close enough to wla - Hansens on s fairfax & Rosebud on s robertson.

Best Frozen Cheese Ravioli?
Divine pasta co. on La Brea (which has been incorporated into Cube restaurant). Nice raviolis - large variety of fillings, but they're not in large sheets and portions in bags are small. Not sure if they're pre-cooked - I don't think so. Check them out.

Blair's - (breakfast) in need of a fix
I've posted on this topic several times since Blairs is a neighborhood haunt. It's frustrating - a friend even made an anonymous call to the owner - he was very receptive and non-defensive and said he realized there were service problmes. But the call was made weeks ago and not much has changed. Sad :(. I'm about to give up on the place in the daytime despite their terrific salads.
Mobile/ caterer ice cream or dessert- FUN
Only one place to go - - google Heartschallenger. Fantastic old fashioned ice cream truck (painted in the coolest way) but filled w/ the most imaginative ice cream and candy treats (i.e. Japanese, old fashioned i.c. bars) It's really great - so great the owner is expanding to New York this summer.
Glendale - Sushi help needed
Sushi on Brand is still there - not great though and I'm not sure if it's open for lunch. Unfortunately there aren't too many options in Glendale for sushi. There's a relatively new place up the 2FWY in Montrose called Blue Fish that's good for the area.
Anyone elso try Il Capriccio Pizzeria yet?
2nd mojoeater. Our delivery from Il Capriccio the other night took 2 HOURS!!!
(mid-week btw - not weekend). Thankfully, pizza was hot when it arrived, but it was almost too late to eat it. I learned my lesson until they get their delivery act together. Now we call ahead and pick-up. Much safer bet. The pizza has been delicious - haven't experienced any of the burnt issues - every trime we've gotten it.
Chocolate/Peanut Butter Type Birthday Cake
Leda's in Sherman Oaks - near Woodman does amazing chocolate/peanut butter mini cupcakes - soooo delicious. I'm sure they can do a cupcake tree instead of a cake (I had one done at Dots in Pasadena) - more interesting than a cake.

We were there approx 8 mos. ago. As I recall the food was good as was the brunch.
Don't remember the price - except that it was expensive. However, so sumptuous & filling, it is literally the brunch is the only thing you can eat the rest of the day.
Reopening the Cupcake Discussion
I think Ledas in Sherman Oaks surpasses all of the above (at least to adult tastes.)
Small cupcakes w/ real buttercream frosting in amazing flavors. Lovely presentation. Moist cake - just right frosting - not that overly sweet stuff that kids crave. You know, that box of confectioners sugar mixed w/ shortening of some sort. (On the other hand, my kid won't touch real buttercream.)
Lucky Devils breakfast report
I had the very thin, smallish (but stacked high) beer batter pancakes last weekend. They were fantastic. Crepe-like, a little salty and very buttery. Would definitely order those again!
Vegetarian Suggestions, anyone?
THe relatively new Elf Cafe on Sunset just west of Alvarado has been getting some good reviews on CH, particularly for a vegetarian restaurant.
