New Trader Joe's yea/nay thread

They came out with several varieties of oat bran/oatmeal muffins that are fantastic. I particularly like the berry and carrot ginger flavors.

Best Peanut Butter - need help

Trader Joe's organic crunchy is hands down my favorite peanut butter

Best Instant Coffee

I definitely agree on the Taster's Choice, however, only the vanilla and hazelnut. Unfortunately, they discontinued the canister!

Does anyone know if there are any updates?

Summer 2009 openings and closings

Need help in selecting high quality frozen appetizers

I frequently purchase the frozen turkey meatballs from Trader Joe's. They are delicious and do not taste frozen at all.

INEXPENSIVE Mexican in NYC?

Noche Mexicana on Amsterdam near 103. Very fresh, very cheap no frills Mexican food.

Stoddard's Cutlery is now in Nonantum

I'll have to try it. Thanks!

Stoddard's Cutlery is now in Nonantum

where is the Vita Magni bakery and what do they specialize in? I also go to Antoine's, but I love trying different places!

Wegmans - Marco Polo Breads

the pretzel rolls are GREAT. everything I like about soft pretzels, but better.

I tried a marco polo bagel and wasn't sold though...it was just like a regular bagel with some weird topping. not as flavorful as I had hoped

Vegetarian Sandwich Ideas

I am trying to cut down on my meat consumption, and I realized the usual deli meat or chicken salad sandwiches I make and bring to lunch are a good place to start.

I already eat a lot of nuts during the day, so I'd like to avoid nut butter sandwiches. I also eat canned tuna, salmon, and other fish quite often. I should specify that I am not looking for any soy deli meats or imitation meat of any kind, but I am definitely open to any recipes including tofu, beans, and basically anything that occurs in nature!

Healthy Lunch Ideas for Work?

I'm confused. what are toxic foods?

Peanut Butter -- how do you eat it (and on what kinds of different foods)?

what is a bagel heel?

Any delis of Zingerman's caliber???

Perhaps because many New York delis are Kosher, which strictly prohibits the mixing of meat and milk products?

What is your Favorite Breakfast Sandwich?

I love a good egg and cheese on a bagel. Nussbaum and Wu in Morningside Heights, Manhattan makes my perfect version-- the eggs are cooked so that it's like a really thin omelette folded over and a over, the cheese is extremely gooey and artificial, and the bagel is chewy and just slightly toasted.

No other food makes me happier!

Frozen, Healthy, Individual Breakfasts

I love the idea of the oatmeal with rhubarb!

ever buy Fairway pre-made sushi or sashimi?

I was under the impression that it is fairly common for 'fresh' fish to be previously frozen because many kinds of fish do not transport well. I very well may be wrong though.

Frozen, Healthy, Individual Breakfasts

I am on the lookout for good ideas for both sweet and savory quick weekday breakfasts.

Ideally, I'd want them to be individually packaged and frozen so I can just throw it in the microwave or oven in the morning and have a filling breakfast without much thought or effort.

I'm thinking of simple breakfast burritos with just some eggs and spinach in a tortilla, wrapped in tinfoil so I can stick it directly in the oven.

Anyone else have any other ideas?

Best Places in U.S. with the Best Old-Fashioned Desserts

Cabot's in Newton, MA is legendary for its huge, old-fashioned sundaes...I've never seen anything like them. They have one called the Dentist Disaster that is just that-- full of candy!

gourmet grocery store gems around the world

Russo's in Watertown, Massachusetts! I cannot recommend this store enough.

It used to be a tiny produce store with fantastic quality. It expanded a few years ago to be include sandwiches, a bakery, cold cuts and other specialty foods but still kept its amazing quality. The staff are some of the nicest and most helpful people, and many have been there for 20+ years. They also feature many interesting local items, such as Armenian breads.

Boston Best Mexican Food?

Taqueria Mexico in Waltham. It's on a side street off of Moody and is cheap and fantastic.

Pre-Cabaret meal near Watertown?

I still have difficulty believing that. In the suburbs, I have found no better Italian restaurant that offers similar ambiance at that price point. I find it elegant but still comfortable, and there are all of these wonderful nooks so you can have a somewhat private meal.

If not Porcini's, where are you dining?. Similar restaurants in the area (Tuscan Grill, etc) don't compare in my book.

Independent coffee shops on Upper West Side?

I really enjoy Arte Around the Corner. It's on columbus in the 70's.

Pre-Cabaret meal near Watertown?

I'm really shocked to hear this. I've always had wonderful meals there, even recently. Why do you no longer like it?

Fluffernutter?

They still do. It's strawberry, I believe

Gluten-Free brunch--is it possible?

If you decide on a place that does not offer a gluten-free menu, you should discuss with your friend his or her specific dietary restrictions. You might need to call ahead with the restaurant to ensure his or her needs can be met.

Lowering the grocery bill.

ah! I bought grated parm from this westside the other day and it was entirely flavorless. I picked up some from Fairway today and it is so much better

Need suggestions for a fun, laidback birthday with drinks

Cafe A (or A Cafe I can never remember) on Columbus in the 100's is great for this kind of occasion. Not too expensive, festive, and BYOB with no corkage fee.
