Looking to go out to a restaurant tomorrow night with similar vibe/prices as Blair's. Live in Los Feliz and would like to take cab or subway, so preferably Hollywood (or Silverlake) area. (Went to Hungry Cat last month) In desperate need of recs.

Best Box of Chocolates for V-Day

Need to find a really good box of chocolates for valentines day and wanted to do something a bit more special than just Godiva (I don't need to break the bank on one box of chocolates though). Somebody once told me about a place on the UES but I cant remember the name....I think it might have started with "Pierre" though. I'm sending it to someone in LA so it would be nice it it was something that they couldn't get out there.

Thanks for the help in advanced

Angeleno BDay Dinner: Florencia 13 or EL Maguey?

I'm trying to pick between Florencia 13 or El Maguey for dinner Friday night (for about 6 people)....I've already looked at most of the posts about Best Authentic Mexican Restaurants in NYC and I've boiled it down to these two (I've heard Tulcingo, Tehuitzingo, and Noche are all good but I want something a bit nicer).
Which one's better? (Keep in mind that I'm a 1/2 mexican angeleno)

Good, authentic Mexican in Manhattan?

I would have to disagree with ginagee about y fonda. I am a Columbia student and grew up in LA and I found this place mediocre at best (and extremely overpriced for the quality.....$13 for so-so enchiladas at a whole in the wall restaurant where the food is being cooked right in front of you is not a good bargain).

Eagle Rock/Highland Park Lunch

I just started working in Eagle Rock and am trying to sniff out the best lunch spots....I've already been to Eagle Rock Bakery and both Beaujolais...and have heard about The Bucket....does anybody have any other recommendations for that neck of the woods....I'm going to be working in the area all summer....so the more recommendations the better.
And the best mexican joints in Highland Park would also be appreciated as well.
Thanks in advance.

Mexican

So I'm from LA (where all the good mexican food comes from) and have been living in New York for the past 6 months, and have finally decided to make the leap and try mexican in the city. Does anybody have any good recommendations. I'm not looking for anything too expensive (but if that's the only good mexican i guess it will just have to do)..

Thanks in Advance.

Students (on a budget) searching for good steak dinner

We're looking to take a friend out for his birthday tomorrow night (that being a monday, we have to take into account that a lot of places might be closed). We're in search of a good American/Steak restaurant that is nice but obviously not too expensive. We're up at Columbia (116th and Broadway), but willing to travel.
Thanks in advanced for all your help.
