The other thing I really like there is made from their croissant dough(at least I think it is). It's a flat pinwheel shaped cinnamon pastry. So cinnamony and sticky good!

Cafe Vanille on Charles St and the cafe at the Chestnut Hill Mall are outposts of French Memories only a lot closer. They also have a cafe in Sharon center.

Burdick's is a great "sweet" shoppe that has wonderful hot chocolate. Get some and drink it outside as you watch a broad spectrum of the human race walk by.

I've been to both once and was pretty disappointed. I didn't think the donuts were anything special.

I've gotten baguettes at AJ King but have never seen Italian bread there.

I don't know how I missed your post. We ate lunch in the restaurant. We split an order of mussels that were served with their bread(toasted) and lobster raviolis. Delicious!

I second Salumeria in the North End(Boston's Little Italy) if you're going to that area. I haven't been to Monica's since the expansion.

Hands down...Tuscan Kitchen in Salem NH. Last weekend, I went there for the first time and couldn't get over how good the bread was. I usually get bread at Clear Flour or Salumeria in the North End. If Tuscan Kitchen was more closer, it would definitely be my new place for bread. In addition, their marketplace had lots of yummy looking products from prepared foods, pastries, pastas, cheeses and grocery items from Italy.

The Clam Box has been open since the end of March.

I'm not from that area but know it fairly well. I go both ways when heading to the SS. Going through Boston is probably a bit shorter. Mt Vernon might still be a good option because by that time, they might be a bit slower from MD. There's Amrheins in South Boston which is similar to Mt Vernon,, Picco in the South End has excellent pizza and ice cream and there's always Chinatown. Most of the other places I can think of aren't as casual. Yankee Lobster in the Seaport District has good lobster rolls, fried seafood, etc. It's counter service but there are tables both inside and outside. There's always the Clam Box at Wollaston Beach too.

There a Fuddruckers in Reading at the Jordans Furniture. If you're going to be coming down 93 S to 128 S(also known as 95S), it's 1 exit north up 128 N. which would be about a 3 minute detour. About 5 miles south on 93, right off exit 32 is the Burlington Mall heading South and all the chains are there...Cheesecake Factory, Ninety Nine, Legal Seafoods, etc. off exit 33 is Pappa Razzi...Italian. Recently, Bobby Flay opened a Burger Palace at that mall as well. I would think by that time, they wouldn't be as busy from MD. If you Google Burlington Mall and restaurants, it will list a lot of them.

I've gotten clams twice at Morses. Both times they were one big clump of clams. I had to pull pieces off of it to eat them. I went back th 2nd time thinking maybe it was an off day. They were just as bad the 2nd time.

When is it suppose to close? A lot of good memories from family events when I was a kid. I even had my sister in laws surprise wedding shower there 30+ yrs ago. It was her idea to go there for dinner that day with her relatives that had come to Boston so she was REALLY surprised! My brother didn't even have to suggest they go there (of course he knew he had to get her there somehow). I'd like to get one more dinner in before it closes.
