Interesting Restaurants Around Legacy Place in Dedham? (It seems to be all chains...)

Bamboo also has sushi as part of the buffet.

I second Isabella's.

Date Nut Bread

I got one today in Milton at GH Bent cookie factory. The other day, your post got me thinking about how I use to like it and hadn't had one for years. It was the last one they had, but they said they do have them occasionally. Maybe call before you go. They have lots of cookies as that's theit main thing but don't make too many loaf cakes/breads. I just had a slice and it's delish! Side note....they have really good sandwiches. It's located in Milton about 1/2 mile from Newcombe Farms Restaurant on RT 28(Randolph Ave) if you know where that is. They've been in business since 1801 and were the original makers of water crackers. Here's their link:

Any info on Happy’s Bar & Kitchen

You reminded me that I left out a comment about the fries. I agree. Very salty. They came with the pastrami sandwich, but I only had 2-3 of them.

Yesterday, I stopped by Happy's and ordered the chicken soup as well as the pastrami sandwich. It was very disappointing. The chicken soup was more like a thick stew with maybe 1/2 cup of broth, and there were so many diced carrots that it looked liked it was some sort of carrot dish. Some rice, a type of tiny pasta, a few mini meatball sized matzo balls(they had no flavor), many small morsels of chicken as well as what tasted like sage filled the shallow bowl. There was so much "stuff" that I had to tip the plate to get a spoonfull of liquid. The sandwich was also disappointing. It must have been sitting for a little while before it was brought to me because the bottom of the toasted rye was soggy. The rye was toasted, not grilled. I had taken for granted that it wouldn't have been either. The pastrami was ok but nothing special. The service was very good, but that's the only real positive. It's pretty disappointing. From the opening press, I was hoping it would be decent. I won't be back anytime soon.

Dinner with old friends before wedding

Brasserie Jo would be my choice. I like both the atmosphere and the food. Despite its popularity, I don't care for the food at Petit Robert and the tables are very close together so it's hard hear and you can't have a good conversation. I haven't been to Coda.

Mother's Day Brunch near Ikea?

Not brunch but La Scala just off the highway in Randolph has good old school red sauce Italian. It's only about 1/2 mile off rt 128. The exit is for Route 28 Randolph. Go up the hill and it's just after your reach the top right on 28. There are a lot of chain type restaurants in Braintree in/around the South Shore Plaza.

Fun - Good Food West Roxbury, Newton area

Check out West on Centre in West Roxbury. I had an excellent lunch there a few months ago.

Any info on Happy’s Bar & Kitchen

The other day, they faxed a menu to me. They were having computer issues and couldn't email it. The pastrami sandwich isn't on it, and I thought there was a part of it missing. On Monday, I went for a late lunch and there was a sign that said they didn't open until 4:30-5. I don't remember which time it said(old age is kicking in).

Conference Widow's (Longish) Four Day Plan

I love Burdicks hot chocolate. A few weeks ago, for the first time, I got a bag if their make at home prep and it was great! An idea might be to get a bag to bring home and then go for ice cream. I much prefer Toscanninis and Christine's to JP Licks. I never understood what was special about most of JP Licks ice cream.

Cheese question

FYI....This afternoon, I went to Wegmans and they has Boschetto Tartufo with Truffles at the main cheese counter..

Milton - quick good eats, friendly and comfy

I go to Newcombe Farms pretty often and really like the breakfast dishes.. It can get a bit noisy if it's crowded.

Best Fried Clams nearThe Colonade Hotel

The Atlantic Fish Co on Boylston St across from the Prudential and Lord and Taylor has good fried clams.

Restaurant Choice Challenge

Price range? what area is the graduation in?

SOUTHERN FRIED CHICKEN

I got the WF fried chicken 2 days ago and we went back and got more yesterday. It was at the prepared food counter not in the hot foods section. Very crispy and good....even when reheated on a rack in the oven with foil on the next rak under it to catch excess oil.

Marathon Monday

I think a better suggestion and shorter walk would be to head over to Symphony/South End restaurants. They wouldn't be effected by the Marathon.

DD's Bavarian Cream donut, extinct?

I don't remember but will see if I can dig it up online.

What to eat at Faneuil Hall Marketplace

In Fanueil Hall itself, the center building, is the juice bar(I think it's called the Monkey Bar) that makes good smoothies and theres a macaroni and cheese place at the other end of the center building that makes all kinds of gooey good mac and cheese. There's a stand a few down from the mac and cheese place on the same side of the aisle that makes really good chicken as well as scallops wrapped with bacon. I can't remember the name. The chip yard which is a stand along side the center building makes really good chocolate chip cookies. I haven't been for a while so there might also be some new stands. Most other places have their food on display in cases and you can keep an eye out for what people are eating and if something looks good, just ask them where they got it. The center building of the 3 long buildings is where most of the food stands are. I would suggest walking from one end to the other to look at everything before deciding.

April 2012 Openings & Closings

Can you elaborate on Ginza's AYCE? This is the first I've heard about it. Thanks

SOUTHERN FRIED CHICKEN

Please report back when you go to Crusers. I hope it's the same.

SOUTHERN FRIED CHICKEN

This is exciting. Has anyone tried the chicken at Cruisers on Main? Is it like Fontaines? A few years ago, there was suppose to be a place in East Dedham that was going to serve Fontaines chicken and it never panned out. Prior to that, a now defunct restaurant at Marina Bay was suppose to have the recipe but it wasn't anything like Fontaine's was.

DD's Bavarian Cream donut, extinct?

I thought the Weymouth one and one in New Hampshire were the only 2 left. I've been to Weymouth and it brings you back to what DD use to be. A BiG difference between their donuts and all of the other DDs. Weymouth would probably know where/ if there are others in MA still making their own. I remember hearing how the corporate offices had given Weymouth a hard time and Weymouth insisted on making their own.

First Date Braintree / Quincy

The 1st and last time I went to Abbey Park, the food wasn't good and the bar in the center of the room got so loud that we couldn't hear each other. We won't be back. Another suggestion might be the restaurant at Granite Links Golf Course. The food, although not excellent, is very good and the views of the Boston skyline can't be beat.. Siros, at Marina Bay, is also very nice and on the water. I know they closed for a few months but should be opening soon if they already haven't. It's at Marina Bay and if it's a comfortable night, it's nice to walk around the boardwalk. Another suggestion might be Venezias. Again, really nice views as it's on the water and you get the Boston skyline. It's primarily Italian food but the food can be really good to mediocre. It has a really nice atmosphere for a date. It also has a lounge with views adjacent to the restaurant with a dance floor and there's usually music on the weekends.

Best lobster roll thats not 30 bucks

I'm pretty sure Sullivan's doesn't use frozen lobster meat.

Best lobster roll thats not 30 bucks

I really like the lobster roll at Castle Island for $10 and the priceless harbor view to enjoy it with.

Pizza slices: variety & high quality?

I use to be a big fan of Bianchis until the last time I went about 2 months ago. Maybe it was an off day but I got a cheese pizza. It was very oily and the cheese was concentrated in the center with a noticeably large radius of just tomato sauce and crust. It wasn't good. Has anyone been there recently?

You can order them here...

Strega Waterfront -- What's the attraction ??

LOL

restaurant suggestion near Faulkner Hospital Boston

Capital Grille at Copley Sq is open for lunch. About a 15 minute drive from the Faulkner.

March 2012 Openings and Closings

It is open. I was there 2 weeks ago and they had just opened.
