Hi everyone,
My brother and his GF are moving to Calgary at the end of the month. I want to get them a GC for a pub downtown and that has great beer.

Best Doughnuts in Toronto
What about the bakeries on Bloor between Jane and Runnymede. I can't remember any of their names. I think one of them is the Sweet Gallery. If not that there are a handful.
Favourite Farmer's Market
I have been so impressed with all the Farmer's Market throughout the city. I commute by bicycle I have been able to check out a few of them. Do i have a favourite? Yes - The Brickworks on Saturday. Also the one in my neighbourhood is great - East Lynn. When it was strawberry season i was going crazy.
The community atmosphere is amazing. Local: meat, bread, fruits, veggies, home-made pie: I am loving it.
I've been trying so hard to shop with the farmers and when I happen to be in a grocery store, I feel like such a snob. The quality of the the fruits and veggies are sub-par. Plus: apples from New Zealand??##@@!!!
Feel free to suggest a interesting or favourite market in Toronto, item or stand. I'm always looking.
Camping advice...PLEASE!!!!!
There are so many good ideas given already. When I go camping it's in Kayaks so space is really limited. We are out for 3-4 days and i must have lots of food and some alcoholic bevvies. The trick is preparation: ziplock bags and think perishable vs non- perishable. You can prep and spice mix and toss in a baggy. Oh and hot sauce.
The first night as other people have suggested is steak, potatoes (cored adding butter, salt and garlic) wrapped in tin foil. I'll eat baby carrots for the veggie for the fibre factor. You are so hungry and have paddled all day, it is the most amazing steak. You can even marinated before-hand, freeze then ziplock. I have also ask my butcher to seal it for me. i'll freeze it and just cook as is. if it's a good steak, it needs no meddling.
Breakfast: pre-cooked bacon (ziplock) and eggs (which do not need to be refrigerated). Toss in a pan with red pepper and/or garlic and onion. toast bread on fire.
Lunch is sandwiches: summer sausage is great, pre-cooked chirizo and cheese. don't forget the baby carrots. Or soup. Again there are some great soups that are in tetra packs. Or the liptons work as well (less space taken up).
Supper: Pasta that's half cooked, the Oliveraie (sp?) tomatoe sauce. Again: red pepper, onion, chirizo, grated cheese.
Other ideas:
Indian food in a bag; boil till hot with naan. so good.
Couscous: add boiling water and spices
Lentils: soak them in the morning cook for dinner: spices and veggies.
Wine now comes in small foil, tetra packs. Great because it cuts down on space.
I like Baileys in my coffee (cream, sugar and whiskey) a perfect combo.
Chocolate, oatmeal, almond butter (not fond of peanut butter), dried, nuts/fruit + choc chips.
I somehow sneak in a bag of chips.
Butter and be stored in a small tupperware container.
This board has been great for ideas and is a great jump start for my August kayak trip to the Missinabi River near Chapleau Ontario. have fun all.

My suggestion is to go to a specialty Cheese shop or a Gourmet shop. They should carry it. I rarely see it in the local grocery. Ummm if you do find it, bring it to room temp (drool).
Types of Salt.

Here...i found the recipie
INGREDIENTS
1 butterflied chicken (approx. 3 1/2 to 4 lbs)
3 long sprigs fresh rosemary
Juice of 1 lemon, with more lemons to serve
1 red onion
6 tablespoons olive oil
Maldon or other sea salt
Put chicken into a large freezer bag. Pull the waxily aromatic needles off two of the sprigs of rosemary and drop them on top.
Cut a lemon in half and squeeze juice into the bag, chucking the rinds in the bag afterwards, too. Pour in olive oil and then tie bag. (Or vacuum seal, if possible.) Give it a good squeeze around the edges before sitting in the refrigerator.
Marinate chicken for a couple of hours, or overnight—even a couple of days.
Preheat oven to 425°. Once chicken is at room temperature, lay chicken (skin side up) along with lemon rinds and onion pieces, on a foil-lined pan. Add remaining sprig of rosemary torn into a few pieces and tuck into leg and breast of chicken.
Cook for 45 minutes. The chicken should now be crisp-skinned and tender within. Take the pan out and cut chicken into four pieces. Arrange on a plate along with onion bits.
Pour over any syrupy golden juices from the pan and sprinkle generously with sea salt. Cut a lemon or two into quarters and scatter these clumpily about the chicken.
