GOOD Delivery Restaurants In C.S.L. / NDG Area??

A lot has changed in 10 years. :-) What are you looking for specifically, J1836?

After the Game on Saturday

And finally if you crave Chinese, I suggest Mon Nan on de la Gauchetiere, door on the ground floor, just a few stairs up. 20 min walk from Bell Centre.

Recommend the 3-course half-Peking duck ($30), which serves two people nicely. Includes duck and tofu soup, sliced duck with pancakes/green onion/marinated carrots & daikon, and veggie duck stir-fry. If you're 3-4 people, get the whole duck variation and/or half duck plus a few other dishes.

After the Game on Saturday

Even more low-key than Le Boucan, Avesta Turkish café is great and inexpensive. Google Maps says 18-min walk from Bell Centre.

Recommend one of the mixed mezze appetizer plates and a spicy chicken sandwich on lavash bread, depending how hungry you are.

After the Game on Saturday

Google Maps says Le Boucan is a 17 min walk from Bell Centre. They show the game so may be busy, but maybe folks will have finished up by the time you get there.

I recommend the pulled-pork poutine (if you're into pulled pork) and roasted tomato soup. :-)

Can you specify the location of this game? Some of us have no idea what you're talking about. ;-) Bell Centre?

Weekend Montreal Trip

Be sure to stop at Le Marché des Saveurs du Québec at Jean-Talon Market - full of Quebec products, some of which you can take back to the US.

> What could I possibly expect at these Friday at 10?

There are a couple of good threads that compile places that do late-night (usually after 10pm) specials - have a look for keywords like "late night specials" using the search box at top and you'll find them.

First time in Montreal - looking for suggestions

You could also try H4C for brunch. You mentioned staying "near Atwater" but it's a fairly long street - I'm guessing you mean you're staying near Atwater Market? H4C is just up on Notre-Dame, near the corner of Atwater. I found it good bot not as good as Lawrence:

First time in Montreal - looking for suggestions

I've only ever gone for 10am opening, no wait. (I get there 10-15 min. early.)

For other weekend breakfast places I'd recommend Prohibition. It's in NDG, though, but near Villa Maria metro. They take reservations. The challah French toast with fried chicken is amazing.

My friends really like l'Avenue but I've still never been:

My other favourite brunch places you'd need a car for: Dejeuner Cosmopolitain in Pointe-Claire and Coin Mechoui for Egyptian brunch in Chateauguay.

Consider Lawrence for brunch on Saturday or Sunday instead of lunch? It's so good.

Wasn't the previous restaurant on that corner Zen Noodles? I think Maura has been gone for quite a while, not sure what happened to it.

Last time I ordered from Zen Noodles the chicken was overcooked and spongy. Looking forward to trying the Korean.

Tiny Taco Place in Montreal West

I haven't yet tried them, but the taco place in Montreal West is now serving fish tacos. My friend said they were amazing. She couldn't remember what kind of fish it was, but described them as lightly pan fried, with coriander, cabbage, onion, avocado, sour cream, lime and something spicy.

That sounds great, thanks for the tip. I'm a big fan of chicken curry so this is going on my list of places to try.

DAD's Bagels is Closing

St. Viateur Bagel has an outlet on Monkland and REAL Bagel (now called something else) on Cote-St-Luc Road - both make good bagels in NDG.

Aw. :-(

I didn't go there that often, but they had pretty good takeout Indian and I always liked having a 24-hour bagel shop in NDG.

Montreal restaurants with vegetarian options, including a special-occasion place?

I'd recommend Yuan Vegetarian for Chinese - it was amazing. We did the $20pp ALCE (items ordered off the menu in waves) with a group and everything was great, with good service.

It's also the Monkland Street Fair through Sunday (Aug 24). Food trucks including Grumman 78 and some restaurants along the street have kiosks.

Dim Sum in Chinatown

"We have smaller places so sometimes the cart has been around a few times before it gets to you."

For this reason my favourite dim sum in Montreal is Crystal Chinois, as you order off the menu and everything is super fresh, and you can get exactly what you want instead of hoping it happens to come by on a cart.

> Any decent Indian options?

My current fave is Flavours of India.

Favourites: channa samosa (vegetarian), channa bhatura (vegetarian - chick peas with fluffy fried bread), balti chicken, chicken 65.

Montreal restaurants with vegetarian options, including a special-occasion place?

Damas would be perfect for an anniversary dinner, I think. Delicious Syrian food with plenty of veggie options, and walking distance from Kem CoBa. Omnivores will be happy too. Cozy restaurant atmosphere with a nice terrasse if the weather is OK.

Bitter lemon?

Not sure it's worth a special trip if you're not already in that neck of the woods. Definitely worth a stop if you're already near Hudson.

It's a tiny shop, not sure it has anything that Bramble House in Pointe-Claire doesn't carry.

Best Home Meal Delivery Service in Montreal?

Haven't tried any of those myself, but a friend who hates cooking but loves food swears by Chefanista.

I've had good food from Fresh Mint at some local events: http://www.freshmint.com/
