What Did/Does Your Dad Cook Best?
My dad is an awesome cook and baker. My all time favorite thing that he made, when I was younger, was homemade pizza. I once had a friend come to our house for dinner in 1st grade when he made pizza, and when asked what she wanted for dessert, replied "more pizza". Nowadays, he has a smoker and is really into making ribs, pulled pork, and chicken wings. Delicious!

After getting takeout way too often recently, I'm back on the cooking bandwagon! Made a crock pot chicken taco chili last night that was just okay, and tonight made Asian chicken and veggies with spicy peanut sauce from Emily Bites. It was pretty good but the sauce needed more oomph, I think.

Haha! Same here! I haven't been able to bring myself to use them...and I think they expire soon. I guess I should try them.

It was nice to meet you too, and that's good about Eric's wife! I'm sure they would've missed him had the baby arrived sooner.

Maybe the slices I get around here smaller then? I don't know how large a NY style slice is by definition.
WEIGHT WATCHER FOODIES - WHAT ARE YOU COOKING? PART 6
I have NY Style pizza in my area (NYC suburbs), although the slices might not be quite as large as in NYC itself. I've been counting a plain slice as 5, pepperoni as 7, sausage as 8, any type of chicken topping 7, etc. I've been relying on pizza alot since it's so point friendly (compared to many other fast or take out foods) and I haven't had any issues with those point counts. I lost 20 pounds in 4-5 months :-)
Coffee and lunch near Dia Beacon?
I would say yes since I'm a huge fan of Poppy's. And I agree with the Zora Dora rec, their popsicles are very unique with interesting flavors, whereas while Jane's Ice Cream is good, you can find it in a few locations, more typical flavors, etc.

This is really belated, but just wanted to say that I had a great RW meal at North. The ambiance was very nice, and the service was superb. We were seated upstairs, right near Mister Bill, whose acquaintance I made :-) I think my favorite item was the beef two ways that my father ordered.

Awesome! Good luck and congrats in advance!
drinks and eats on 65 mile bike ride (Brewster to NYC)
If you want a quick bite, Rocky's Deli is very close to the bike path in Millwood - about 1 minute off the path. The deli is a favorite in the area; I've never had a bad sandwich there. If you zoom in far enough on the route map that you linked, it will show up. It's not a sit down place, but if you just want to eat something and go, that would be a good place.

I will be dining with my father. I will ask the hostess about the "Bill, party of 4 at 7" when we get there, as you will have just been seated 30 minutes prior.

I know this site has been mentioned to death on this board, but www.skinnytaste.com - she has wonderful recipes, many of them simple. You know exactly how many points you're getting with each serving. There are other sites too, but this one, IMO, is the best. Sure, I eat Lean Cuisines too when I don't have leftovers to bring to work, but I don't really find that I'm relying more on frozen food than I was prior to dieting.

I don't know where we'll be sitting - I didn't request anything specific. But yes, it would be nice to meet up!

Any updates? Good/bad experiences? I'm only going to North next Wednesday so I have nothing to report yet, but I'm looking forward to hearing reviews from others!
Proposed Farmers Market in Yorktown generate opposition from local farms and supporters
There are farmers markets all over the place in Dutchess County, and there are also farms all over the place. I've never heard of any opposition. Just seems wrong.

I lost 20 lbs - your 45 is impressive! Great job especially keeping it off!

I am officially entering maintenance today :-) For those of you who have been on maintenance before, did you still track, and pay for the program, or did you stop doing the official program? I'm thinking I'll still track for maybe a month and then try things on my own.

I will be there at 7:30, so we should be there around the same time!
Wedding venue ideas
Dutchess Manor in Beacon, NY is a nice venue, with great views of the Hudson. I was a bridesmaid in a wedding there last September. The setting was great, and the staff was very kind and helpful.
From their website: "The 2012 package prices range from $ 95.00 per person to $ 105.00 per person plus service and sales tax. Discounts are available for most Fridays and Sundays in season, as well as almost all dates from mid-November through early-May."

I will also be there the 2nd Wednesday! I am looking forward to it, as I've heard good things about North from various people here!

I'm making Skinnytaste Corned Beef and Cabbage with Horseradish Cream tonight. I've never made corned beef before, so I hope it comes out okay!
WEIGHT WATCHER FOODIES - WHAT ARE YOU COOKING? PART 6
Yes that dressing is great and you wouldn't know it's good for you - they also have a Ranch version for the same points plus value! I also noticed Thousand Island on the shelf.
WEIGHT WATCHER FOODIES - WHAT ARE YOU COOKING? PART 6
I felt the same way about the Skinnytaste Chicken Tikka Masala. It was decent, but I didn't love it as much as some of her other dishes, and it's no substitute for Indian restaurant tikka masala. It didn't have the right spices and such obviously.
WEIGHT WATCHER FOODIES - WHAT ARE YOU COOKING? PART 6
Congrats, that's a great accomplishment!
WEIGHT WATCHERS FOODIES: WHAT ARE YOU COOKING? PART 5
I love that sorbet, I didn't know it was so low in points - I will have to buy it!
WEIGHT WATCHERS FOODIES: WHAT ARE YOU COOKING? PART 5
I haven't been cooking much lately *insert embarrassed face here*. I've been eating alot of Lean Cuisines, got takeout Thai food last night, etc. I've been stuck at the exact same weight, to the tenth of a pound, for my past 3 weigh ins. I should probably drop down to 26 points/day, or use less weekly points, or exercise. Tomorrow is my mom's birthday, then I have two other family birthday parties to attend on Saturday, so next week I'll go food shopping and hopefully get back on track with cooking more.
"What's that?" - grocery store edition.
I meant that they should recognize at least that it's in the potato family :-)
