I don't get it. If the kids are bugging you and the manager doesn't care, leave. |

Get the Ghost Sausage--awesome! |
The neighborhood is completely safe during the hours Langer's is open. |

Vegan Mexican restaurant in Chinatown??? I can understand being a vegan, but I can't understand eating fake chicken or fake shrimp. |

What are your favorite dives and cheap eats WORTH THE DRIVE? "I actually find the .99c tacos at Jack in the Box to be far superior to Tito's if I'm looking for mystery taco meat tacos." Wow, ns1. I had no idea you could get a taco for less than a penny at Jack! |
So, ric, did you ever make it to LA? |
Langer's is a completely different pastrami experience than The Hat. You can't compare the two. One is thick-cut deli pastrami in a restaurant; the other is thinner cut in more of a fast-food environment. I love them both. |

That about covers it, Wes. I abandoned Johnnie's a while back. If I want some good ghetto pastrami, I go to Johnny's on Adams. ----- |

Unforgettable PIZZA CRUST you ever eaten in Southern California The whole wheat crust at Casa Bianca...because I really didn't like it at all! |
Right next to Woodland Hills is the Hummus Bar & Grill in Tarzana...literally minutes away. Very nice (though not stuffy at all). Great service. Interesting and enjoyable food. ----- |

A friend of mine wants to take his girlfriend to a nice Indian place, with cocktails, for her birthday. He's looking for downtownish LA or east SFV...no far flung destinations. Ideas? |

What are your favorite dives and cheap eats WORTH THE DRIVE? Main better than Pico? Bizarre claim. Perhaps you're talking about the burgers, which I've never had. If you want the chicken plate, the Magic Orange Sauce at Main doesn't hold a candle to the manna on Pico. |

Thanks! That place looks cool! |
Where do I get one? |

A month? That's mighty slow cookin'! |

I agree wholeheartedly with OC Mutt. Lines suck. In the immortal words of Yogi Berra: "Nobody goes there anymore; it's too crowded." |
I agree. Carts are far more inviting than the megalithic trucks. |

Help!! Taco Bell Chili Cheese Burrito in the L.A. area?! I agree. The Chilito was amazing! ----- |

You would have a hard time finding _________in Los Angeles... Whale meat, now that The Hump is closed. |

Yes, the truck can park on studio property, away from the prying eyes of the authorities! |

I have a friend who called me with a question. He works on the lot of a major film company in the Century City area. He'd like to get a food truck over there around dinner time (7:30 or so). He knows he can round up at least 20 guys to start, but there should be a huge upside. He's not looking to hire a truck. He's looking for someone with a good truck who wants to sell some product. He figured that I'd know just the truck, but I don't. However, I do know that my fellow Chowhounds will. Give my your best ideas! |

Dude, if you think a pastrami truck is going to be better than Langer's, I'm not sure how you're going to be satisfied. Having said that, I think the way to go with trucks is to just hit up whatever you happen to see. Chasing trendy trucks around is a recipe for disappointment. |

"The Grilled Cheese Truck sounds good." Reference: "items that sound good, but are executed poorly." |

I had a great experience at Qzilla. My wife and I had the Mile High on Texas toast. It was what you want--moist, flavorful, meaty and plentiful. When we were there, they truck was deserted. Reading all these comments, it seems like the busier the truck, the worse it is. ----- |

Guy's Big Bite: What demographic are they targeting? That's not empirical evidence, StheJ. That's anecdotal. |

any good food that isn't a chain in calabasas or woodland hills |

Have any Chowhound Faves Broken Your Heart I like I-N-O's fries. I guess I'm nobody. ----- |

any good food that isn't a chain in calabasas or woodland hills It doesn't look like much, but try out the China Star on Ventura, just west of De Soto. I suspect you will be pleasantly surprised. ----- |
