Birthday Weekend in Philadelphia - Need Recs, Please
Hi,
We're coming to Philadelphia this weekend on a whim for my husband's birthday (we live in Brooklyn, NY). We're staying at Rittenhouse 1715, and I'm looking for some ideas of where to take him for his birthday dinner.
Somewhere with excellent food and drinks, but not too stuff - we like a little atmosphere. Price is not an issue, so would like to hear all kinds of ideas.
We love Italian, Chinese, Thai, Middle-Eastern, Mexcian.
Just looking for a nice night out with an interesting atmosphere and great food.
Also, if there are any ideas on a place to go for a special birthday dessert, I'd love to hear them.
Thank you!!
Rome Recommendations?
Jivefree, I'm just starting research for my upcoming late December trip to Rome - would you be willing to share your list?
Holiday Dining in Venice, Florence and Rome? Are things open?
Hi everyone,
I just booked a trip to Venice, Florence and Rome over Christmas and New Year's. Now I'm a little paniced that nothing is going to be open. Am I in trouble? We fly into Venice arriving 12/23, and stay there three nights. Then, off to Florence for three nights, then three nights in Rome, leaving 1/1.
I would love to know if things will be open! More importantly, will anything *good* be open.
Thanks so much! I really appreciate any thoughts/advice/guidance.

am i the only person who felt a little "eh" after a $25+ pie? I *love* a fresh mushroom and olive pie, but when we ordered it here the olives were clearly from a can. in this neighborhood, it's inexcusable to not use the most delicious olives that are overflowing from every italian grocery.
the crust was great. the atmosphere charming. i was just left bummed paying $2 per topping for olives that came out of a can. especially in this area. and especially if you "have no menu" and "only make pies and calzones" with a handful of ingrediants...
