As a detour from the Christmas markets, we dropped in at the Pergamon Museum to tour the world class archeology exhibits on Christmas day. Upon exiting, we wanted to grab a quick bite. Across from the museum was Pergamonkeller, which was almost filled (it was 3 pm). I had the Wurzfleich in Blatterteigpastete (sorry for the missing umlauts!) and my wife had the 2 kleine Scheiben Schweinefilet. Both were excellent. Seemed to be a hit, since I saw many of the puffed pastries as we walked in. Enjoyable new discovery. Would go again, if we were in the neighborhood.

Love Chowhound...gave us great options as we travelled from town to town in Germany. A great highlight was an afternoon dessert break coming back from the Kaiserberg castle in Nuremberg. Less than 1/2 block down the hill from the castle was Hutt'n. We dropped in to try the apple fritters mentioned in a Chowhound thread. As you can see in our already munched photo, it was great. Lots of ice cream and whipped cream to support each bite. A favorite of the entire trip. Beer class sized soft drinks were an added plus.

Thanks to everyone at Chowhound for their insights and suggestions to guide us on our Christmas Market tour of Germany. We were especially pleased with lunch at Andechser am Dom in Munich where we had the best roast duck and suckling pig of the trip. Large potions, reasonable cost, friendly service, English menu. It was all great.

Thanks for the suggestion. I was able to make reservations on Christmas day via OpenTable for 6:30 pm. Will let everyone know how it turns out next year.

Just heard back from Restaurant Reinstoff. closed on both Christmas eve and Christmas day. Any other suggestions for an upscale Christmas eve/day dinner?

Great posts and places for our upcoming visit to Munich, Nuremberg, Frankfurt, and Berlin for the 2011 Christmas markets. Looking for a place for Christmas eve and Christmas day dinners in Berlin.

Sent an email to Renger-Patzschand learned that they will be closed on both days. Considering Marjellichen, but can't find an email address to send a note.

I'd welcome a suggestions on best possible choices for this year.

On our way back from a trip to California, my wife and I stopped off at the Legals C Bar for our usual bowls of clam chowder and calamari appetizer. We were surprised to find that portions for both were considerably smaller than normal, despite the normal prices. Has anyone else seem this or did we just get a bad waiter/order? Look forward to hearing from others.

I think Oga's has the most innovative Japanese in the greater Boston area.

I second Sichuan Gourmet and EO noodle, but would also add that Rasoi has excellent Indian food for dinner, preferred over Gold Star. On the reverse, Gold Star has a better lunch buffet than Rasoi, based both on variety and taste.

Although its related to China Pearl in Chinatown, I find that China Pearl in Woburn has always been good and has never disappointed me with dim sum. If you get there any time before noon, it's generally possible to get seated without a wait.

still trying to make it over to Burdick's, but Temper Chocolates in the Hotel Commonwealth near Kenmore Square does a couple of awesome versions hot chocolates, including intensities not that different from inhaling a chocolate bar.
