Aerogarden reviews?

Same here. It worked great while I used it, but it's been long relegated to my garage. Maybe it's time to dig it back out.

I used it for flowers though, not vegetables, to add some color to my office at work.

ACME Southern Kitchen Closing

Saw it on the Eater- http://sandiego.eater.com/archives/20...

I never got to try this place, but it's been on my list in my quest for awesome fried chicken. Bummer. Was it any good?

Indian picnics

Haha, this post made me smile. I concur with your assessment, reminds me of the cold banana appam I had as a kid. Are you looking for north or south indian food? What about vadas, they transport well...

Help with freezer to microwave meals please!

Yes, he can cook for himself. I should have clarified further. Housing regulations prevent them from having any type of electric grill or stove top. I will have to find out about the toaster. My jaw dropped when I heard this, but I've been asking around and a couple of other people I've talked to have said they have seen/experienced this with on campus housing. Thanks for the ideas!

Help with freezer to microwave meals please!

I going up to visit my younger brother who just started grad school, and I offered to bring some food to stock up his freezer. The problem is, his tiny studio doesn't have a stove, only a fridge and microwave. Most recipes that adapt well for the freezer (lasagna, casseroles) require an oven to bake them. So other than a few soup recipes (chili and tortilla soup) I'm stumped on what else to make. Does anyone have any recommendations? Thanks!

Moving to North County, need restaurant recommendations

I've lived in central SD for the last 10 years, but now we're moving up to the Poway/PQ area.

I'm not too familar with this area, but a quick google search shows that it's mainly chains here. Help, there have to be some hidden gems around!

I'm familiar with some good vietnamese & indian restaurants in the Mira Mesa area, but I could use some recommendations for other great restaurants in this new area...

Any good breakfast locations? Fine dining or even quick places to stop and pick up dinner?

One upside is I've always wanted to try House on the Hill, but never made the drive up. Any thoughts?

Thanks guys!

Best non dairy milks, how to use them and other tips?

Oh, perfect topic! I am trying to plan Thanksgiving dinner with a guest who has a milk allergy. I would love any inputs regarding cooking with non-dairy milk as well...

Would love to replicate "Pill Pockets" for dogs

Not a recipe for Pill Pockets, but I've found that bananas work great.

Spicy Etiquette

what's the place called, if you don't mind me asking? I'm always on the lookout for super spicy, but well flavored Thai food in SD.

Smaller & Smaller

My aggravation with this takes a different turn. If I'm making something that calls for a 15 oz can, which the author is assuming is a standard size, and they have now been downsized to 12 oz., I'm now forced to buy 2 cans just to get back to my original amount.

ugh.

What is "Americanized" Chinese food?

Hmm, I'm Indian and use the term "Indian food"...

And on that note, do Chinese people call themselves Chinese or do they specify what province they're from?

I think it's just for simplicity. Or laziness.

Looks like Panda Express is responding to your request. I heard a commercial on the radio yesterday that they're now offering wraps =)

Best Onion Rings in SD?

I love onion rings, especially when they're not cut too thick, and not too thickly battered. They should be thin enough that you can bite into them without having the entire onion come sliding out. I've been on a quest to satisfy my craving recently...

Any suggestions?

Putting milk/cream into soda?

Amazon carries a couple of brands too, and I tend to prefer the Monin brand myself. Good luck!

Won't give me water with my meal???

This somewhat happened to me at a Starbucks recently. I ordered two drinks and also asked for a cup of ice water- I was told that they can provide me with water, but no ice. Store policy. It makes no sense, but they were so rude about it I've taken my business elsewhere ever since.

pear chips [Moved from Home Cooking]

I've bought some really good ones at the Harry & David stores, (lightly sweetened and also thin & crisp) but I tried looking for them online and couldn't find them. If you've got one close by, it might be worth calling!

Fruit + Salt = ?

An old roommate of mine used to put salt on pomegranate seeds, and I've been hooked on it ever since. In this case I don't think it enhanced the sweetness, but rather complemented the taste of the fruit.

Crawfish in North SD County?

There's a new restaurant that opened up on Convoy St. (in the same shopping center as Yogurt World actually) that claims to specialize in crawfish. I haven't been there yet, but if you're interested I'll look it up next time I satisfy my yogurt cravings =)
