Superbowl Viewing for over 45 ladies...

Thanks so much for taking to time to reply. Really appreciate your help.

Superbowl Viewing for over 45 ladies...

Going to be in town with a friend on Superbowl Sunday for an afternoon show. Won't be able to make it home to watch the game that evening so we're hoping we could find a nice restaurant/bar where we could have dinner and watch the game. But we're not young and if I drag my friend some place where no one is over 40 she won't be able to talk about anything except how old she is and that would just ruin everything. Also she's not much of a football fan so the atmosphere and food do matter (for her comfort). We're going to be in the Chelsea area, but have no problem taking a subway to another spot. Any ideas where we'd be able to enjoy ourselves and not feel out of place? Or should I just set my dvr and head home? I really want to see the game live as I've been a fan for years! Thanks for any advice you can provide! Go GIANTS!!!!!

Normas--Worth it??

Well, a few weeks ago I was on these boards wondering where I could take my 18 year old daughter and Norma's was recommended. And we did go there and she LOVED it. Sure it was a bit expensive but the following week she and a few friends spent some time visiting NYC after the prom and Norma's is where they went for breakfast. My daughter enjoyed it so much she just had to go back with her friends and they had a great time too. And that's the thing, it's not just about the food to them. They liked the atmosphere and also the cool stuff on the menu.

Last time out with daughter before college...

Dear Sherry: Just made reservations at Norma's. The menu looked fabulous. I think the fresh smoothies did it, as she LOVES smoothies! And thanks for the college advice, as right now we seem to be at war most of the time. It has just been the two of us for the last 5 years, so it's tough for both of us. I'm excited though as I see the next four years as a great adventure for both of us!!
Thanks again. I would have never found this place and I think she's going to love it!!

Last time out with daughter before college...

Hi all....

Well, my daughter is now 18 and has a very busy social life. I was able to get tickets to see The Daily Show and we're going together on the 14th. We don't spend much time alone any more as her social life is pretty full. So I'm quite happy that we'll be going into NY for the day.

I would really like to take her some place special for lunch. It can be any where in the city. I would just like it to have a very uplifting atmosphere and sort of non-exotic food as she would just not be into anything she could not pronounce. Something fun and I guess young.

I would appreciate any suggestions you might have and thank you very much for your time.

Take care, Dainin

PS - Not very expensive (if that's possible) and by that I mean not over $75 for both of us.

Dinner Near the Javits Center

I'm going to be in NY for a concert Wednesday night at MSG and planned to go down to Chelsea and Little Italy. But now we have discovered that the International Auto Show is at the Javits Center, and will instead end up there. Any suggestions for dinner around that area would be appreciated. Italian would be best and not trendy. We're not young and hip at least not any more. Just would like a quiet sort of friendly place for two adults who have managed to find some time to get away from their responsibilities for a day and would like to enjoy being alone (we just started dating). Any nice places for desert or coffee would also be appreciated. Thanks so much. I get so many great ideas from this board. You're very kind to take the time to help!

Dining around The Town Hall

Hi all...

I'm going to be going to The Town Hall (123 West 43rd Street) this Sunday and was wondering if anyone had any suggestions on where we could get something to eat before the show. Any type of food would be fine, but would like a nice casual atmosphere and good value. Nothing too fancy.

Thanks for any help you can offer!!!

Penn Station...

I really appreciate your advice, thanks! Very kind of you both to take the time to reply!

Penn Station...

Are there any decent places to eat dinner in Penn Station?

I'm coming in on Thursday and it's going to be freezing, so rather I was wondering if I could just eat dinner in Penn Station before going to the Garden.

But maybe I'd be better off taking the subway to Grand Central Station to get a meal.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!!

It's a date sort of thing, so I'd like to eat somewhere nice, but not too nice as we won't be dressed too well considering we're going to a concert at MSG.

Thanks so much for any input!!!

Dinner suggestions around MSG needed...

Going to see a concert at Madison Square Garden next Thursday... sort of a first date type of thing. Any suggestions for a place to dine would be appreciated. Something with a bit of privacy and a relaxed atmosphere.
Thanks for your advice!!

92nd Street Y places to dine...

Hi...

I'm going to be at the 92nd Street Y Sunday night.

I was wondering if any of you kind folks might have some suggestions as to where we might have a nice dinner before the lecture.

Thanks for your help.

I recently got some advice from Chowhounders for another NYC trip and the info was great!
Thanks so much!!!

Good Eats near Hotel Roger Williams on Madison @31st...

Hi... I'm going to be at a conference next week and I'm staying at Hotel Roger Williams @ 131 Madison Avenue. I'm probably going to dining alone, so I'd like to pick up some take out. Perhaps pizza or sushi or a good sandwich. Any suggestions as to where I can find some really good food to enjoy in my hotel room would be appreciated! Thanks!
