PHX: Great Selection of Beer(retail)?

I concur with themis inre to Crossroads Fine Wines Beer Selection. Jim, the owner,
is nice and is very knowledgeable about " putting things into terms" anyone can
understand. The last time I was in there, last week, he had almost 300 different types
of beer, and you can make up your own 6 pack by mixing up all the bottles and not
having to committ yourself to a solid 6 pack of one item..experimenting is fun!

Open bottle of wine - how to store?

A simple solution is to keep a "Clean-Half-Bottle & Cork" around so when you
open a full bottle just immediately fill up the "Half-Bottle" top the top and cork
it, so you have eliminated the exposure of the wine to air. Enjoy the other half
in the bigger bottle that moment and your "Half-bottle" should see a longer life......

Wine for a crowd

Rosemount Shiraz 1.5 for under $10???.........that would be a good score and
a strong contender for "Best Bang" for the question posed...........

Bottled/can beer that tastes the most like draft beer?

"Cleaner" is intended to mean none of those "metallic" flavors that comes
with the Big Brands.........."Crisper" meaning a refreshing "snap' that one
is expecting from beer of this style............

Bottled/can beer that tastes the most like draft beer?

Isn't "cleaner" and "crisper" more desirable than "light" and "no flavor".........
If you want your beer to taste like nothing then continue to support the
advertised "bellywash" brands...........Please try a "Moretti" or "Shiner"
and see what you think...............

Bottled/can beer that tastes the most like draft beer?

Being a beer drinker for many moons, all the major advertised brands of beer are light and really are "neutral" in their flavors........a brand like "Morretti" from Italy
or a Shiner Blonde from Texas and widely available offer cleaner and crisper tastes
across the palate than any brand advertised......We did a tasting in our "group"
of 10 famous brands with the 2 above and in a blind vote,Moretti was #1 and Shiner
#2 with MGD, Coors and Bud in the basement.......

What's been more available in US, Corsendonck Brown Ale, or Corsendonck Pale Ale?

I live in the West Valley in Phoenix about half the year and in NYC the other half..........
I've come across it more so in PHX, with both being readily available.......In NYC,
not as strong a beer market as you may think, it is much more difficult to find almost
anywhere.........another Belgium label worthy of seeking is from Br. Caracole...........
a little softer and not as "malty and spicy" as Corsendonk........"Nostrodamus" is
their "brown" and one of my favorites..............IMHO.........

Featured Micro at Baseball Stadiums

I have to say, living in both NY and AZ , that for the sophistication that NY sometimes
is associated with that the quality of beer in most public places is mostly popular and
low in quality versus other markets...............

Flavored vodkas

If you like to experiment, you can actually make your own infusion of vodka and
control the "flavor intensity" by steeping your essence for however long you want
to, just like you would a tea bag.........One of my favorites is taking 2 liters of
Belvedere and putting it in a clean large jar and taking a "sliced' vanilla bean and
peeling a ripe mango and pineapple and letting it sit in the jar for 3-4 days and then
extracting the 3 flavoring components and you have a beautiful layered exotic
flavored Vodka that you freeze and it's "sneaky' so be careful..........any blend is
possible and playing with all the different things makes it really interesting...Enjoy !

Help! Red wine lover needs to switch to white

I would consider trying a Viognier ( pronounced VEE-OH-NYAY ).......I think somebody
like Rosenblum you can find readily available around $16-18............I drink mostly reds
and consider this grape varietal appealing as far as whites go for someone who primarily favors a red.........It has good texture and some layering that could satisfy
your savouring for something that might be able to quench your palate somewhat like
a red can....Hope you'll enjoy it............

Pinot Noir Suggestions

I live in NYC.............Brother-in-law runs a fine-wine shop in Manhattan.............
some of the prices some people mention on here are just plain bogus...........
Sanford costs 19 wholesale............and your mentioned wine is 15 wholesale..........everybody discusses these prices as if those are what you can
find them everywhere for...........and who can throw out a lower price........
and lots of vague statements trying to sound authoritative..........only opinions
that are credible are people like zin, cars, and others..........IMO

Tried Grey Goose Pear Vodka?

It's called fill the pipeline..............expand the base product to all flavors to appeal to as many people as possible..........The ol' "throw it against the wall and see what sticks" philosophy.............

Best value in a "special occasion" cognac

A value cognac that you can find at 45-50 is Kelt VSOP and their XO at the $120
in my 35 years of drinking fine cognac is paramount to all others...................

Winestyles Store

Winestyles is a "franchise" wine store that has a limited selection of maybe 125-150 different wines grouped together by taste or "style"...........decent concept, but it still
comes down to who is running it and the few I have been in have had people who really
know very little about wine and just seemed to "refer' to their manual when trying to
answer a 'basic" wine question...........Individual retail shops arre really a reflection on
the person who is behind the counter..........

Would like recommendations on inexpensive Chardonnays

I've never gone wrong with Chateau St. Jean Sonoma Cty Chardonnay that you can
probably get for about $9-10 when purchasing by the case..........Another yummy
one is "Woop-Woop' from down under which I have bought within the last week for
10.99 and was very pleased with,...................
