hard pretzels are hard to make

I love hard pretzels (with mustard) and find it surprising how few options there are at the store. My gold standard is Martin's pretzels from the NYC Green Market. So, I decided to make this recipe from Alton Brown.....http://www.foodnetwork.com/recipes/al... but it came out a mess. The dough was way too gooey, impossible to form into shapes because it was so sticky. And the end result was more like a salty bagel. Any advice as to where I went wrong? Why are there very few hard pretzel recipes online?

Thanks!

Recommendations for a Vegetarian

I am traveling to Shanghai, Chengdu, Guilin, and Beijing (and the areas around these cities) and looking for good vegetarian recommendations. Restaurants, dishes, food stalls......I am a foodie and food lover and have done some research but would appreciate some more specifics. And places off the beaten path and out of the guidebook.

Thanks!

Looking for Restaurant Recommendation

My favorites thus far are Beretta, Delfina, Bar Magnolia, Citizen Cake, Bar Tartine, Weird Fish, Kokkari.....to name a few.

Looking for Restaurant Recommendation

Hi. Looking for a restaurant recommendation....party of 4, Friday night, ideally where I might be able to make a reservation. Mid range, 30 year olds, one vegetarian. Maybe something Californian inspired. I recently moved here so have tried a few places but not tons. Maybe Mission, Hayes Valley, SOMA, Civic Center, Bernal Heights.....

Thanks!

Looking for Rhubarb

Hi. Thanks for everyones help. I tried the Berkely Bowl with no luck. I actually need the rhubarb for a magazine story that comes out this spring/summer, so unfortunately I do need fresh. Any other resources within San Fran that you can recommend?

Thanks!

Looking for Rhubarb

Thanks for the tip. I am in San Francisco, in the Mission.

Looking for Rhubarb

Hello.

I need rhubarb this week, even though it is out of season. Anyone know where I can find it in the SF Bay Area? Maybe imported from New Zealand? I recently moved here so any advice or tips are most appreciated.

Thanks.

St. Louis Saturday night

Hi, 5 of us are coming from New York this weekend to celebrate my Dad's 70th birthday at a Cardinals game. Looking for a dinner suggestion, near downtown? Somewhere really special, great food, upscale but not too fussy.

Any suggestions?

Thanks!

Bar advice

Tomorrow is my birthday (33!) and I am going with a few friends to a French wine and cheese tasting event at Murray's on Bleecker. Looking for a good bar to go to afterward and maybe invite a few more friends. There will probably be 8 or so of us total. Looking for something casual and not too crowded, close by......

Thanks for the advice!

Potato Skins

Where's the best Potato Skins (veggie) in New York? I haven't had any in 15 years but recently thought about how delicious they could be?!

Tabla?

Looking to take my friend out for a fancy thank you dinner. Is Tabla still worth going to? Any other recommendations? We are in our early 30s, creative types, so nothing too stuffy, but I want to feel like it is worth it and special to spend $200 on dinner. He is an omnivore and I am a foodie vegetarian. My other fancy faves have been Eleven Madison Park and The Harrison.

Degustation, Aurora, or Boqueria???

I think the food at Aurora is really delicious, and that is your best bet. Relaxed, warm, and fun. Boqueria is a bit too loud and too hectic, and the food a little stingy yet well made and tasty. Two teensy-weensy bread slices to go with an order of cheese.

broadway east? angelica kitchen?

I went there with a small group the other weekend. I thought it was delicious. We all shared a pizza as an appetizer. yum. I had some kind of coconut crusted tofu and I loved it. I think the non veggies liked it too, some things very very hearty. I think Angelica kitchen is not a good choice for non vegetarians, it can be too light and salady for some. Also I have sometimes found the staff to be kind of jerky.

Where can I get amazing potato skins

I realized I have not had potato skins in about 10 years. Where are the best ones in the city? Don't say Fridays or Bennigans, but somewhere to go during the week and get a few beers. Anyone had them at BLT Prime?
Thanks!

Dinner for 21 in August

Hello.

I am looking for a recommendation for dinner in the 6th Arrondisment, for 21 people. A big family! Nothing too fussy, a typical bistro would be perfect with maybe 30 euros per person? And it needs to be open in August.

Merci

2 topics in one? Senegalese and UWS

I have two requests.

1. Looking for a delicous Senagalese place anywhere in the city, that might be somewhat vegetarian friendly.

2. Planning to have dinner in the UWS or farther north and looking for a new place. Mexican, New American, Italian....no more than $15 per entree....casual but good and fun?

Thanks!

Dinner near 49th and Madison

We want some place with high end creative cooking. We have already been to dbmoderne in the area, aquavit. My dad is more conservative in his tastes (no mexican, indian, or too spicy) and I am a vegetarian, but can usually find something delicious in appetizers, sides, etc. Expensive is okay if it is worth it, but not over the top like Per Se.

Thanks!

Jewish "Dairy Restaurant?"

I love B&H Dairy in the East Village (NY). They have delicious soup that comes with challah with or without a huge wad of butter on it. yum. The food is so comforting and dirt cheap!

vegetarian french onion soup

Does anyone know a place that makes vegetarian (not vegan; ie they use cheese but not beef stock?) french onion soup? I had it years ago in California and since then it has become my vegetarian holy grail.

Thanks.

Looking for downtown restaurant for party of 5 - help!

Hi I am looking for a resturant, anywhere below 34th Street. I am introducing my boyfriend to my parents, so want something nice but not too uptight. Was going to go to Cookshop but lost reservation when I added 1 to our party. Prefer New American, innovative, fresh ingredients.....and where I might be able to make reservation.

Thanks!!!!
