San Pancho and Sayulita Recommendations
Another fun thing to do in San Pancho is go to the Polo Club, I can't remember what it's called but they've got a restaurant so you can eat and watch the match!
San Pancho and Sayulita Recommendations
I'll second the bistro in the Hotel Cielo Rojo. It's good for breakfast/brunch and you can have a glass of champagne with it!
San Antonio for 2 days- need help narrowing down options!
Rosario's has a fun atmosphere. The food at Acenar is better though. Mi Tierra is beautiful, have a drink there.
I'd do brunch at Tre - Madhatters is claustrophobic and Guenther House has no alcohol.
Pearl Brewery has a Sat. farmers' market.
One night
10:30 is very late, maybe Harry's or the bar at Delmonico's or Fraunces Tavern.
Tea with 2 little ladies
I second the Russian Tea Room, particularly as they do a specific Children's Tea. There's also the Plaza (your girls will like the Eloise aspect).
Manuel Antonio Costa Rica
Si Como No is very good for lunch. Dinner at the Mariposa Hotel is nice as the view is fantastic.
Wowing visiting friends near Battery Park/ Wall St.
I would be wowed by drinks at the Ritz Carlton - you could then go to Harry's which is pretty good and very lively.
Aruba: any recs for simple, fresh (sea)food?
Aqua Grill in Palm Beach. It might be a bit fancier than what you're looking for but the fish selection and preparation is fabulous. Also the Old Fisherman In Orangestad has good fish and is a funky local place.
Restaurants With Piano
Cole Porter's piano is in the terrace bar at the Waldorf. Not a restaurant but you can sit and have drinks - I've been there when someone's playing the piano but it's not a regular thing.
Best restaurants for low carb/paleo eaters when dining out
I try not to eat carbs - steak houses are the answer. Start with a crab cocktail, then have a steak and veggies. Any Argentinian restaurants are good too, I lost weight in Argentina eating a caprese salad to start, then splitting a steak and a bottle of Malbec! I think that red wine and meat are slimming for some reason, the red wine sort of breaks down the meat.
Anyone eaten at Laduree Bar on Champs Elysee
Laduree is indeed a jewel but I like Fouquet's, it's fun and bustling, and there's another one with a vaguely nautical name and a blue and white awning on the same side I've been to a few times.
Where Paris' locals dine
The thing to do is walk leisurely by and listen to the conversation, look at the people, if they are mostly French, you're in!
Restaurants With Piano
I happened upon a little place called Mimi's which is on 2nd Street and it proved to be an almost surreal retro experience, the pianist was playing Frank Sinatra and the carafes of wine were unbelievably cheap. Plus, if I can remember after the carafes of wine, the salad and veal was very passable. I recommend it.
Paris dinner for 10
Most Montmartre restaurants are rather small, you might think of L'ete en Pente Douce. There was a party of ten last time I went although they were not very pleased with the service which is, unfortunately, very hit or miss (the food's great though!) There are plenty of restaurants on Boulevard de Clichy which are larger and could accommodate you.
Sausalito Lunch Recs
There's a bus that goes over the bridge, or you could walk over the bridge and then get it into Sausalito. It is fun to walk across the bridge.
Place with good charcuterie (bonus points for great terrine!)
Cafe d'Alsace. They don't have charcuterie at Artisanal but I love their pate and rillettes!
Need a Dinner Rec Near Snug Harbor
Marigny Brasserie is practically next door. There's also Adolfo's above the Apple Barrel. You can eat at Snug Harbor but it's a pretty blah menu.
" Must trys " in Restaurant Row ????
The only two I like are Firebird and Barbetta but I do enjoy the vibe of walking down Restaurant Row, it's cute!
Most serene/relaxing restaurant in NYC?
Picholine, a window table at River Cafe, Aquavit
Best Seafood Platter in Paris
When I saw your title the first place I thought of was the Dome - wonderful.
Buying champagne/sparkling in Paris
There is absolutely no shortage of places to buy Champagne in Paris! As has been said, Nicolas is a good wine shop chain and they usually have a little bar in them. We actually buy rather cheap vin moussant as we drink quite copiously, in Paris we start our day off with it and it's pretty good, most supermarkets have it.
Upcoming Paris trip- after a lot of research, here's what we've booked- COMMENTS PLEASE
I agree that going to the cafes on Blvd. St Germain and Blvd. Montparnasse is wonderful. They've got such Parisian history.
Cancun Recommendations on Blvd Kukulcan (Hotel Zone)
Captain's Cove has great breakfasts. Pretty much all the restaurants in all the hotels will have fairly good food.
Aruba
Just got back and wanted to update on some restaurants. We stayed at the Hyatt and ate twice at their Las Ruinas Del Mar which had excellent food, especially their grass fed steaks. We also ate at Piccolo, Japengo and the Palms there and you really can't go wrong. Other than that we went to the Aqua Grill which has terrific seafood, I highly recommend. In Oranjestad we went to a quaint place which specializes in Aruban food The Old Fisherman (it's very close to the bus station) - the atmosphere was perhaps a little better than the food. We ate keshi yena, an Aruban specialty, at Iguano Joe's which is a tourist trap catering to people from the cruise ships but it has decent food. All in all, the diversity and quality of food and restaurants in Aruba is amazing! It's definitely a foodie destination.
Best moderately priced italian in the city
Morandi's has a large dining room and is pretty good actually.
Coffee shop with seating in Grand Central Terminal
I can't think of anywhere in GCT that isn't noisy, it's part of the charm of it!! The Campbell Apartment's probably the quietest place.
Finalizing restaurant for special night with wife...kids are with the sitter!!
I adore Picholine but as has been mentioned Jean Georges (which I find rather romantic if you get a banquette) is a bit closer to the theater. Marea is very good too and a pretty space.
