Any place like Andalu(SF) in LA
yeah... Andalu seems to be one of a kind unfortunatley. Tapas in SF is top notch though. Anybody recommendations near the hollywood area?

Violet looks great Chowpatty. What is the ambiance like?
Any place like Andalu(SF) in LA
Sorry about the general question. Andalu is SF is a tapas restaurant that doesn't break the bank. The ambiance is hip withought being pretentious and the they play everything from hiphop to classical music. The webstie is www.andalusf.com. I was thinking cobras&matadors on beverly would be similar.

I'm not only talking about the food... but the ambiance.. and the music.

Boston chowhound seeks LA sushi
if you think Katsu-Ya has the best sushi in the world. You are highly mistaken.
Sushi on a Sunday?
Nozawa is closed and if you're not a Sushi aficionado. Tama will be a very good sushi place.
Long Beach Convention Center. Good Places to EAT?
It has to be walking distance.
Do any of you chowhounders have any recommendations?

Patron Silver for Cheap in SGV?
Right now Bevmo in pasadena is selling it for $40.
Anywhere cheaper?
Ow Tama... How I love thee.
I just went back to Tama the other day and I have to say the sushit was very excellent. I've tried Kiriko, Sasabune, Matsuhisa, Sushi Zo etc. But I still go back to Tama, becuase I don't have to deal with the whole Sushi Nazi crap, the lines, etc..... katsu is awesome, and Takeshi (far corner of the bar) is just as good. I don't like the the chef at the close corner of the bar but that is just my preference.
My girlfriend and I had: Remember that orders are 2 pieces each
1/2 dozen Kumomoto Oysters which were spectucular
2 orders of Live Santa Barbara Shrimp that were still moving
1 mushroom Miso Soup with huge mushrooms
1 order Halibut Toro that was delicious
1 order Bluefin Tuna Sashimi, great thin slices and not blocky horrid slices
2 order Abalone with amazing crunchy texture
2 order Red Snapper that was very sweet
2 order Maine Lobster that was awesome
1 order Uni was extremely fresh
1 order of Razor Clam was awesome
1 order of Orange Clam was awesome
I also order 2 Large Sapporos (1 for me, 1 for Takeshi) and we were given 2 free deserts of fresh strawberries with whip cream and this sort of chips and a sugary coating.
Bill was $170 with tip. Bill was $140 without Tip.

Curtiskan is totally right about that Pho Hien place.

Holy Crap!!! I'm really sorry for your whole ordeal and experience Wildswede. This place that you mention " noted a small building with the name "Hien" on it, so thought this was the place (immediately next to a small used car dealership on a north-east corner). It was gated shut and dark, although the sign in the window indicated "Open" is the place!!!! I have always eaten there at lunch and they were open but I don't what time they close at night, apparently they may not even do dinner. Plus I've eaten there mostly on saturdays, mondays, tuesdays and fridays, which they've been open. the place is no frills and the little lady at the register is also the waitress. She is really nice and stuff on top of it. I hope you do try it one day, but after your ordeal I wouldn't blame you if you never came back.
best pho in san gabriel valley?
not in a strip mall and its on the north side.
Its right next to a used car dealership!
I wish I could be more help.
and in all honesty, the pho in vietnam is not as flavorful as the pho here. Many vientamese people have told me the same thing.
Best Sizzlers in LA
Trying other places is not the point here you guys. We all know that Sizzlers is subpar to many places. That being said, we are still trying to find a good one.
The sizzler in hollywood on highland wasn't that bad actually.
And I remember the one on Vermont and 3rd Street to be good. Am I wrong?
best pho in san gabriel valley?
Pho Pasteur is marginal at best.
Pho Ha across the street is significantly better. Although it is still par in my book.
best pho in san gabriel valley?
Oops. Its east of rosemead on Garvey.
I think its called Pho Hien. But don't quote me on that. It is very nondescript. I wish I could be more help with the cross street, but if you pass the Mexican supermarket, you went too far. its about a block before it.
best pho in san gabriel valley?
I've eaten at most if not all of the pho places in SGV and my favorite place is a dumpy looking one on Garvey south of Rosemead Boulevard. I do not remember the name but it is next to a used car dealership.
It has the best pho to date.
I've eaten pho in Vietnam also, and nothing compares to this place.
I'll try to find the name, but there really is no sign.
