Open Pit Steak Houses

Are there any open pit steak houses I am intersted in know if any steakhouses in the area have open pit grills that you can see your food being cooked while you watch. A long time ago in a land called southern oregon (grantspass area) the Water Hole had an open pit and I would like to find one in the area. Any ideas chow friends or are these banned in Oregon for some reason (fire laws etc)

Best restaurants in Medford, Oregon?

I find it hard to liisten to all of the negative posts, I like to look at this site to get ideas of where to go not just a lot of critics telling me how terrible there service was or how drab the food is. Come on people if you dont have anything good to say then just stop posting. sounds like a bunch of middle school children bitching because they are spoiled.

I would rather hear you talk about the good places not the worst service or worst places you've been treated wrong or had your feeling hurt.

Best burger in PDX

This may not be an upscale burger joint but I ahve discovered Christophers on MLK man it is an awsome burger. The man up burger is big and jucie. comes with an egg and hot link and the flavors are wonderful. My boys get the man up burgers I ge tthe regular cheesburger and you walk out full and satisfied.

Ok I know its not IN Portland but dont forget about Helvatia Tavern simply IMHO hte best of the best shouldnt be missed by anyone.........skyline is also great.........and Im not sure but Staniches since it closed the west side I have not eaten at the east side for along time but another great burger.

You might like the Stockpot in Beaverton. They have a great room called the Club Room that can handle up to 90 and they do great food either buffett style (best for the money) or a plated sit down dinner. Great location on hte RedTail golf coarse and lots of parking, they are close to Washington Square and easy on and off 217 access.

hungryhippo nice recomendation I checked out the web site and they look fantastic. have you used them? I am in the business and think I would use them they look proffesional and very organized both things you want in a caterer. NICE JOB.

Fancy chease wheel melter

I was surfing a foodie blog and ran across a photo of two guys with a wheel of cheese in what looked like a melting contraption. I think it was Steves cheese in Portland. the wheel of cheese was cut in half and set in the rack on one side and then a heating element of sorts on the other side and looks like a drip pan below. I am wondering what this contraption is called and or if it is home made. It looked to be made of cast iron and was fairly decorative. Any one that can help I would like to know more about one and where to get one.

I am glad to report that Peggys is still in Rice Hill and looks to be open I travled thru there today and at aprox 5pm the open sign was on and cars in front. let me know how it is if you stop in there.

I am leaving this afternoon for Medford from Portland I will look and let you know if peggys is still there. I know that the burger place on hte right hand side going south was there last trip and has great Umpqua ice cream its been there for as long as I can remember I'm now 43 so forever.

Hey its a bit out of the way but try the StockPot Broiler. Short cab ride to Beaverton from downtown and well worth the travel settled in on the 18th green on the Red Tail Golf Coarse and great steaks and seafood. Big Mike

Best Burgers?????? I feel the need to say Helvatia Tavern OMG have to hit it once every couple of weeks. I also agree with Staniches but the west side is the best. Thanks for the suggestion I think a jaunt to sherwood tonight is in need to get a McKenzie Grill Big burger. they rate right up with the rest in my opinion. Big Mike

Try 38 on Central its fantastic I have been there twice and have not been disapointed. I live in Portland area now and this is one of the best I have had in Medford for fine dining. If you looking for fun food try Nohos Hawiian great food and lots of it. Anything else is just like chain food.
