Parlor Steakhouse Review-90/3rd
4 of us went the other night, and we will be back. The 4 different entrees and the 3 sides left no work for the dishwashers, and the wine list featured younger wines at modest prices. But the sommelier was v knowlegable and his recommendation was excellent and less expensive than the one I had originally chosen. The service was on and off, but that may be a function of the recent opening. The only criticism we had, and it is a serious one, was the noise level: We simply could not hear each other. Will ask for another spot on our return. Price for 4 with two bottles of wine and tip: $500. You can make your own decision as to whether that is high or not.
Rec's for Central Park West?
I agree with many of the suggestions and would only add Bistro ten 18 @ A'dam and 110th. V nice wine selection and interesting menu, which you can check on their website.
David Burke's Primehouse?
Thank you both; I'll be staying at the James and thought it might be worth a try. Lots of others that seem to be a better choice.
Happy hour in midtown?
Ben Benson's (123 W 52) has huge drinks (not cheap) and free potato skins and fried chicken starting about 1730 hrs. Steak place and mainly men from the nearby financial houses.
Need a "nice" midtown bar for early drinks w/ Parents
In which nabe will you be having dinner?
is raouls a good spot to take out of town guests who want a classic french meal?
Sure, at the low end. The food is excellent and wine list adequate. The most exciting moment of the evening is usually the decent from the facilities. It would be a fun night and the nabe is great.
V Good Restaurants in the SoMa area
NYer coming out on biz; staying at the Harbour Court. Need good place ($ not impt.) for biz dinner and discussion.
DAD AND BRO COMING IN!! Dinner recs PLEASE
Salt is a good rec; v v cramped, though. Don't know your budget, but here are some within a short walk of SOBs: Raoul's (if you go light on the wine, it need not be expensive), Cub Room (Bro will love the bar scene),Brothers'(pretty typical BBQ), Cafe Noir (aint nuthin' like it back home), Jane Steet Pub (usual saloon fare in a very local establishment.
