Italian dinner in or close to Little Italy

Hi Pan
Just to let you know I have just returned from Manhattan today and had a thoroughly enjoyable meal at Cacio e Vino last Friday night. The 4 of us in my party were very well looked after and the food was lovely. Many thanks for the recommendation you made back in January - I am pleased I took your word on how good the restaurant is. When I return to Manhattan I will make sure I book a table there again.
Thanks alot,
Amanda

Italian dinner in or close to Little Italy

thanks everyone - I will have a look at the suggestions you have provided, and I will take all of your advice and go for an Italian elsewhere. I saw a good report for a place called Cacio e Vino - not sure it it qualifies for Little Italy status but it received a good write-up. Will look at others though and make my choice. Thanks again,
Amanda

Best cheesecake in Manhattan?

My 11 year old is a big cheesecake fan - any ideas where we might get a good, tasty slice with a coffee?

Italian dinner in or close to Little Italy

Hi everyone.

I have read some previous threads about dining in Little Italy, and not all of them have been positive. I have also read loads of customer reviews about various restaurants and am getting more and more confused!

I wonder if anyone can recommend somewhere with a good atmosphere which serves Italian food on a Friday evening. We are coming from England and want to experience a meal in or close to Little Italy. There will be 4 of us - 3 adults and one 11 year old. I am keen to make a good choice so we can have a decent meal to remember.

Thanks,
Amanda

Pre-theatre dinner around W52 street and 8th Ave

Hello everyone

Please can you advise me about reasonable restaurants around W52nd Street and 8th Ave? It would be for pre-theatre dinner for 4 people (including one 11 year old). Italian or American food would be great. We are coming from England and need some guidance!!

Many thanks,
Amanda

Picnic in Central Park

Hi there

Can anyone let me know if there is any way we can get a ready made picnic to eat in Central Park? I am bringing a friend to Manhattan for the first time and she is keen to eat in the Park. Are there any places you can order picnic food and collect it? Thanks, Amanda

Mango

Hello everyone

Probably a stupid request, but please can anyone give me some tips about how best to cut a mango?

I can never seem to do it tidily - I always end up with squashed portions!!

Many thanks,
Amanda

Fondue

Hello there

I am coming to New York at the end of April from England, and am keen to try a restaurant that serves fondue whilst I am there. Does anyone know if the Swizz Manhattan is worth a visit please. I have seen the website and it looks reasonable, but wonder if anyone has any firsthand experience of the place.
Many thanks,
Amanda

What do you take to eat on a plane?

I like a Starbucks cream cheese sandwich and a couple of tubes of Wintergreen Certs! I rarely eat aeroplane food - never quite sure what it really is!!

authentic NYC breakfast on Lexington Ave

Is anyone aware of a good, authentic American diner that serves breakfast on Lexington Avenue (somewhere between E37 and E38th Streets)? I want to take a first-time visitor to NYC to a typically American place. Thanks.

thanks for the advice - I am new to Chowhound. We are staying in Murray Hill but will be visiting all the usual areas. I am keen to try a vegetarian restaurant, and will search for these on this site. Many thanks.

dinner in manhatten

thank you - will do. Have never been to a vegetarian restaurant before , so I am very excited about visiting one in New York!! Vegetarian food around here typically consists of a small section of a normal menu and is not usually very adventurous.

hello there folks

My sister and I are visitng Manhattan at the end of April for a short break and wonder if anyone can let us know of a some good places to have our evening meal. We like Italian and Chinese but are keen to try other specialities. I am vegetarian, so a good vege restaurant would be useful although I will basically eat meat-free food anywhere. Many thanks.
