Question about menu item at AOC
No. My guess is it was a citrus-based dressing. Maybe a blood orange vinaigrette? Not sure.
Question about menu item at AOC
My wife and I went to AOC on Friday night and had the most amazing salad. It was red and yellow beets, slices of blood orange, and mint. We'd like to try making it at home, and we've got all the ingredients. Problem is, we don't know/couldn't identify the dressing. Has anyone had this dish and if so, what the heck was in the dressing? Any ideas would be a huge help.
Oh, and AOC is incredible, if anyone was wondering.
Thanks.
Eating Near the LA County Museum of Art
Sorry. The Gumbo Pot is in the Farmer's market. Not sure if that was clear from my last post.

I love the Gumbo Pot. It's cajun, and it's very good. They have a big food court with just about every type of food.

The Farmer's Market is a good idea. Otherwise, it depends on what you want. I like Doughboys on 3rd St (just W of Crescent Hghts.). Huge sandwiches, interesting salads, and very good baked goods for dessert. (Although sometimes their bread is a little doughy for me).
Store for gourmet food bases ie veal demiglace, etc?
At Surfas they sell demi in a pouch (that's the actual name of the product). Mix the contents with some red wine, boil for a minute and you're set. It makes about 1 1/2 ice cube trays. Pretty good stuff.
Looking for Good pizza in Eagle Rock
Mulberry Street in Beverly Hills is the closest I've had to the pizza I grew up with Syracuse (NY, not Italy). I was working in BH over the summer and frequently ate lunch there. Hard Times is good, but it's not NY style, IMHO.
Butcher in Los Feliz/Silverlake?

Butcher in Los Feliz/Silverlake?
Hey folks. I'm new to the board, so I apologize if this topic has been covered a dozen times already.
Is there a really good butcher in Los Feliz/Silver Lake area? The supermarkets are either very disappointing or very expensive? I'm looking for a place where I can get hanger steaks, veal short ribs, etc. Any suggestions?
Thanks.
