Authentic cassoulet and a 1976 Bordeaux at Chapeau! in San Francisco, CA
My current drink of choice:
I'm a sucker for cheap american pilsner. I was born in St. Louis, so it's genetic yet it defies my foodie aspirations.I appreciate a great glass of wine and the occasional vodka, but I still (shamelessly) come back to cheap, cold beer every time! I'll gladly spend $200 on my dinner but I still want my $2.50 Bud Light!
I really wish I could:
Make cassoulet. I've invested thousands in the right ingredients and even got Bourdain's counsel, bit I still fail miserably each time I try.
My "Go-to" dinner party dish:
Caviar pie, a recipe of my Aunt Jean's. Simple and very impressive.
My favorite comfort food:
Cold pizza, chicken wings, or a good mac-n-cheese.
My top 5 favorite restaurants:
Balthazar (NYC), Markt (NYC), Binkley's (AZ),Zinc Bistro (AZ) and Don and Charlie's (AZ)
My most tattered cookbooks:
The Balthazar Cookbook, Les Halles Cookbook and Jacque and Julia
