I know I'm replying too late for your holiday - but I would try Brattis up on 2nd street. If they can't get it, I would ask over at Grant Street Grocers - they're unlikely to have it, but they're foodies, so they' might be able to point you in the right direction.

Korean food in SLC

I've taken my nephews there. They make sushi rolls and can churn out a dolsot bi bim bop that seems quite competent.

There's a genre of Korean restaurants that also serve sushi. I don't know if they're any good, but they seem to be common in this part of the world. I think of them as places to take kids who want sushi rolls, not as places for anyone who wants real sushi or real Korean.

I may be wrong.

Drinks + Vegetarian on a Friday night?

Thanks for those suggestions - both look great. Have you eaten at either?

Drinks + Vegetarian on a Friday night?

Just to clarify - we're staying at the Park Hyatt, our friends live out near Logan Square. Our budget is < $100/person.

- Is Takashi good enough for a special occasion dinner?
- I realize how far Arun's is from Violet Hour, but it was suggested as another place to consider with good vegetarian options for a special occasion dinner. If we went there, we'd choose another place to meet for drinks prior.
- We're also up to other drinks/dinner combinations that aren't too far apart.

Help/suggestions/corrections are much appreciated.

I've been to Violet Hour before and thought it was a nice place to start - and not that far for our friends to go. We'll be traveling by CTA/cab, our friends may drive to meet us.

Your help is much appreciated.

Drinks + Vegetarian on a Friday night?

In town catching up with friends. Had thought of Violet Hour for drinks, then wandering over to Takashi for dinner. Would prefer quiet environment. Restaurant has to be very vegetarian friendly.

Any suggestions? Has anyone been to Arun's lately?

Would we be better off staying in River North (we're staying at the Park Hyatt).

Would really appreciate some suggestions from Chicago CHounds!

Good Eating in Billings, MT?

+ 1 for the suggestions for Walker's Grill. They had the best martini in town when I was there a year ago - and overall, the most interesting food.

The Carlin can be very amusing for a night out! And don't forget to go shopping at Lou Taubert's - the Billings branch of this Wyoming retailer of Western wear is kitted out in high-plains kitcsch. It's good fun, and their merchandise is always top-notch, if you're looking for boots and britches.

Great margaritas, lunch, downtownish

Two other suggestions for you:

- Zazil (it's in the SF Centre, 4th floor I think). It's the from the same group as Colibri - and has great margaritas. There menu is much smaller and their prices higher, but the food is generally good.

- Mexico DF, on Steuart Street near the Embarcadero; good simple menu, good drinks.

Groovy place for a b-day partin in Shoreditch/Clerkenwell?

Looking for recommendations please - trying to organise a birthday party for about 40 people someplace with good food and drinks.

The idea is to have an extended cocktail party - with grazing opportunities, so small plates and great snacks would do just fine.

I was thinking of the Light Bar becasue they have a roof deck, but they won't allow private room hire on Fridays or Saturdays.

Any great ideas?

Thanks!

Vancouver downtown - help please

We're planning a 3 day trip to Vancouver and haven't really started thinking about places to eat. We'll be staying downtown and would like to plot out some good eating in the vicinity. Our one major restriction is that we don't drive - so not too far from the city center.

We're both adventurous eaters and neither of us knows anything about the food scene in Vancouver. Not too into very formal places, but other than that preference, we'll try anything.

Any suggestions? I promise to report back on what I try!

Dublin eats for the solo diner?

Will be in Dublin on business and am looking for suggestions on where to go as a solo diner. I don't like to occupy a table by myself - I end up feeling a bit conspicuous. Any great restaurants with bars where you can eat? The last time I was in Dublin, the sushi was still a bit iffy - has that changed?

Any and all advice is welcome.

Chicago Hound seeking French near Union Square

Yeah, it's a bit of a schlep. But when guests come to town, it's a nice trip on the cable car up to Hyde Street. The food and neighborhood feel might make it worth the trip.

Otherwise, Plouf would get my vote.

Cairo?

Hey there, just got back from Cairo and this was a good recommendation. Also there are two locations (that I know of), one in Zemalek and a new one in the City Stars Intercontinental in Heliopolis.

The food was fantastic, i only wish that I'd had an invite to someone's home!

Cairo?

Any recommendations for Cairo? See a few listings for Lebanese and Italian - but would love to try some Egyptian food.

Any help is welcome.

Cairo - Heliópolis

Any food or nightlife recommendations for Cairo? We'll be working in Heliópolis; Budget not an issue, food criteria: good of any sort.

Thanks

SF: Great Restaurants With Bar Dining?

A few suggestions:
2 (located at 22 Hawthorne Lane, near the corner of Howard and New Montgomery); small plates and a good bar. Sometimes has a grumpy bar tender though.

Spoon - on Polk Street in Russian Hill. Great food; they might have a beer/wine only license though.

Lulu, Zuppa and Coco 500 all come to mind (all are South of Market, near 4th and Bryant/Brannan).

You really shouldn't have any trouble finding something good.

México Eats: Polanco and Condesa?

Looking for some fine eats in these two neighborhoods of the DF. I've been to Águila y Sol and loved it. What about Izote? Other places that I've left out?

Also, would love to find some good places to go with work colleagues in Condesa. Any suggestions?

Both are expense account situations, if that's any help.

Thanks!

Recommendations near S. Monica and La Cienega?

Tend to prefer spicy - we eat a lot of Asian but are open to new ideas. Not big on traditional European cuisines unless they offer something unusual.

Budget - if it's more than $75 per person, we'd probably have to think about it, but if it's really good, we'd go.

Thanks for your help.

Recommendations near S. Monica and La Cienega?

Hello,

Visiting from San Francisco and would appreciate suggestions for food within stumbling distance from our hotel (the Chamberlain), which is near the interesection of Santa Monica Boulevard and La CIenega.

I've never really been to LA before, and would appreicate any tips or suggestions.

We're happy to go further afield too, (perhaps for lunch) but since we like to have cocktails with dinner and are not quite sure how to solve for that in a city like LA (we were told you can't really hail a cab - is this true?), we thought it might be best to plan dinner nearer to where we're staying.

Thanks!
