Baltimore: Dinner near Abermarle Square?
Sorry about the lack of details. Given that it will likely be pretty cold, we probably wouldn't want to walk more than a half mile -- I'm a wimp when it comes to cold weather! As far as price, no more than $100. Neither of us are big drinkers, and we're both adventurous eaters. We don't need anything fancy as long as the food is good!
Baltimore: Dinner near Abermarle Square?
Next month, my boyfriend and I are staying at the 1840s Carrollton Inn at Abermarle Square, which is described on their website as being one block north of Little Italy. We won't have a car. Any recommendations for a nice romantic dinner? We'd be willing to hop in a cab or try the Circulator if there's nothing good in walking distance.
Thanks!
Againn in Rockville closing
I was sad to hear that Againn in Rockville has closed its doors. I always enjoyed their food and the service was excellent! We were just there on Saturday and the restaurant seemed busy.
Any Kennet Square or Elkton-area recs for a Monday night?
Thanks so much everyone! We feel spoiled for choice now.
Any Kennet Square or Elkton-area recs for a Monday night?
My boyfriend and I are staying at a B&B near Elkton next Sunday and Monday night. We have reservations for the Fair Hill Inn on Sunday, but we're looking for recommendations for dinner on Monday. We're going to be spending the day at the Brandywine River Museum and Longwood Gardens (with lunch at Talula's Table in between), so we're looking for places around that area or closer to Elkton. Some places I've seen mentioned here, including Sovana Bistro and Foxfire at the Stone Barn, aren't open on Mondays (and neither is Fair Hill Inn).
We're adventurous eaters, fine with either casual or something more upscale, and willing to drive out of way it the food is worth it.
Thanks!

Suggestions for a work holiday luncheon (150 people, 50 pp budget) in MD
Hi, all --
We've run out of ideas for places that can accommodate a group of our size (150) in a private room and work with our budget (50 pp, and that has to include everything -- tax, tip, food, and 2 glasses of wine or beer per person). Close to Rockville is preferred (we've been to Bethesda, Olney, Tyson's and Potomac). Does anyone have any ideas?
Thanks!
CSA 2011 Season
Seconding this! We split a share from Norman's last year, and have signed up again this year. We loved that you could choose which items to wanted. Last year, they added fresh eggs late in the season and in the fall you could get cider or apple butter as one of your choices. You could also order a turkey or Christmas tree through them. This year, they've added an early spring pre-season that should have eggs, plants, strawberries, asparagus and greens.

CSA 2011 Season
I wonder if they've changed since we ordered with them years ago. My impression was that a lot of the produce was the exact same stuff you could buy at Safeway (with the same stickers on them and everything). I know it's winter, but the list of items in this week's box comes from FL, CA, Mexico, Canada, WA, and SA! For those of you that use it, what's it like from June-Nov?
Buying rolled wheat flakes or red wheat berries in Rockville area?
Thanks, everyone! I must have missed the wheat berries at Whole Foods, but I'll head back there, and I'll give MOM a call!
Buying rolled wheat flakes or red wheat berries in Rockville area?
I hoped that they would have rolled wheat flakes or hard red wheat berries at the Whole Foods in Rockville, but no dice. Does anyone know of a place around Rockville that might have them? I know I can get them online, but there's a part of me that just can't stand paying over $10 in shipping for items totaling less than $5.
Giffords?
There was an interesting post on Rockville Central about Gifford's yesterday. They posted this statement from Gifford's Wholesale:
Unfortunately, the Baltimore guy has been a terrible partner to us, to the landlords, to the suppliers, etc. and we are in court with him to try and get the stores back. Due to the length of time it takes in the court system, we are not sure if that is going to happen (legally getting the stores back) before the landlord’s formally evict him from the premises.
Gifford’s Wholesale is actively looking to find new franchisees and present them to the landlord as alternatives.

Fried Pickles
Quarry House in Silver Spring has them, but they're whole spears instead of chips.
Tart Frozen Yogurt Wars Have Begun in DC
There's a new tart frozen yogurt place in Rockville -- Berry Cup. Both the yogurt and the toppings are self-serve, and then it's weighed. They charge 45 cents an ounce.
I thought the yogurt was not as good as Mr. Yogato's, but loved that it was self-serve and that it's so much closer to me than Dupont!

Matzoh Ball Soup near Rockville?
Thanks for the responses. My dad was driving through Silver Spring today, so he was kind enough to stop at Parkway and bring me some Matzoh Ball Soup. This should be taken with a grain of salt, since I'm addled by cold medicine and was also craving it intensely, but I thought it was great -- tons of veggies and nice, light matzoh balls. It was just what I needed.
Stever500, I've never been to Brooklyn's, but it's quite near my work, so I look forward to trying it for lunch sometime next week.
Matzoh Ball Soup near Rockville?
I'm fighting off a cold and need some matzoh ball soup! Is the soup at Woodside Deli in Germantown as good as it was at the Silver Spring location? How is the soup at Parkside Deli? Any other suggestions?
