Bitchin' Kitchen -- Frickin' Funny!
First time I watched her, I found the program annoying but now I enjoy watching it about once a week.
German Lebkuchen cookies - where can I buy them in Boston area?
Oh man, these are my favorite cookies from TJ's around holidays. Too bad they get dry after a while or I would stock on them for the rest of the year.
Peppermint syrup & sparkling mineral water
I don't know if you can get peppermint syrup there, but Polish delis near Andrew Square in South Boston (Baltic European Deli, EuroMart, etc) carry fruit based syrups. You could check there.
first bad experience with H-Mart in Burlington
I concur that H-Mart is not as busy during weekdays as it is on weekends. I was there on Tuesday around 6 pm and easily found parking close to the store.
first bad experience with H-Mart in Burlington
I didn't make to H-Mart as planned so after three days of keeping the meat (thighs, not tights :-) ) in the fridge, I threw out the whole package. Next time I will double check the purchase right after paying for it.
first bad experience with H-Mart in Burlington
I went shopping to H-Mart first time last evening and among other things, I bought what was labeled: boneless chicken tights. Tonight, I opened the package and discovered that while the meat has skin removed, the bones were left in.
However to make things worse, the meat is inedible because it is spoiled, despite 'sale by date' set for October 4th.
I wrapped the spoiled meat in plastic bag and put it back in the fridge. Tomorrow I am going to take it back to H-Mart. I will let you know how they handle the return.
Rome - lunch between Galleria Borghese and Catacombs of Priscilla
We are going to visit Galleria Borghese this Saturday from 11-1 pm and then we plan to head to Catacombs of Priscilla which open at 2.30 pm.
Should we look for a lunch place close to the Galleria Borghese or near the Catacombs of Priscilla (up north on Via Salaria) ?
restaurants / grocery stores near Via Collina - Rome
It looks very promising. I will make sure to put it on my list of restaurants I want to try.
restaurants / grocery stores near Via Collina - Rome
That would be fantastic. Thank you for the information.
restaurants / grocery stores near Via Collina - Rome
Via Collina is south-east of Villa Borghese (and just south of Corso d'Italia) as well east of Via Veneto. Here is a link to Google Map: http://tinyurl.com/22bgxc
As for the type of bread I used to buy on my last trip: well, when you are a student with a very limited cash, you tend to go for the least expensive item and comparing to other countries, the basic bread was not good in Italy.
Thank you for the recommendation to try other types. I won't be strapped for cash this time so I will have better chance exploring local cuisine.
restaurants / grocery stores near Via Collina - Rome
I have seen the reviews of the hotel before I made a reservation and I am OK with it being not right in the middle of tourist area or not being very posh. When I posted my question to this board, I was looking for local joints that other people may be familiar with. I often explore such places on my own, but I also appreciate recommendations that allow me to make fewer mistakes.
restaurants / grocery stores near Via Collina - Rome
We are staying for a week in February in Hotel Ercoli on Via Collina, 48. We have breakfast included in the price of the room (anybody can comment on the quality of the food in this hotel?), but sometimes we prefer to get something more substantial in the morning or get some food for the rest of day in order to avoid restaurants near tourist sites.
Are there any grocery stores near by where we can buy bread, cheese, cold cuts etc and if yes, what are typical opening hours? Any restaurants opened in the morning that serve food beyond typical Italian breakfast (coffee and pastry)? I am a foodie and used to eating pretty much anything so it doesn't have to be Italian food (as long as it is not a McDonald's or another fast food chain).
Last but not least, is the bread in Italy still as bad as it was 20 years ago? I live in US now but I grew up in Europe so on my first visit to Rome as a student, I couldn't be believe how tasteless was the bread.
Lunch near Opera House on Sunday
We have tickets to a matinée show at Opera House today and I am looking for a place we can grab a quick bite before the show. I have checked a few restaurants in the neighborhood but all seem to be closed on Sundays (at least for lunch).
Can anybody recommend a place open for lunch on Sunday close to the theater?
Barcelona - what food to buy for bringing back to the USA
I am going to be in Barcelona next month and aside from eating in local restaurants, I always like buying local specialties, that are not available where I live.
I am also wondering if anybody has experience in bringing legally Spanish hams for personal consumption? Is that possible at all? Does it have to be vacuum packed, bought only at certain approved locations?
So what would you buy that can withstand transatlantic trip in a suitcase?
