Green chicken??
It only happened in the one I originally posted about. Have never had the same problem again from the same farmer. We had eaten the cooked chicken before discovering it and suffered no ill consequences. Many of the replies above explain why it occurs.
What's The One Thing You Can't Eat, even for money.
And I can say that in all innocence because I am one too. There isn't anything I wouldn't do...for food.
What's The One Thing You Can't Eat, even for money.
After thinking of many polite answers in denial of that fact, my final answer is...yup.
What's The One Thing You Can't Eat, even for money.
Reminds me of the old joke -- we've already established you're a (Chowhound), now we're just negotiating.
Novels (fiction or non)
Yes, I totally enjoyed that book and had forgotten about it.
Novels (fiction or non)
If you have never read Calvin Trillin's books, now is the time. They pair travel with food. In fact, one of his books is where I first heard of Chowhound.
Head-on Shrimp
Check this out for eating the whole shrimp: http://chowhound.chow.com/topics/410119
What are your favorite crackers?
I love those. Costco has the original only. I hope they will get the other flavours.
Any Good Eats on the Drive from Calgary to Salt Spring Island?
I walk by The Grey Dog almost every day and had no idea the food was good. Thanks for your review. There's another local cafe in Vernon that was good last time I ate there: Little Tex on 29th Street...http://www.littletex.ca/
The nasty bits
We used to get those too until we started paying strict attention to the "best by" date. They're already at the end of their cute little nitrate lives and you're not going to take them home and freeze them, so if you don't gobble them down today...well, sick either way!
The nasty bits
Definitely. Those are one of the cook's little treats. Haven't searched it but maybe there's a new thread here -- the bits that don't get out of the kitchen.
Road Trippin' - Kamloops, Victoria, Abbotsford, Chiliwack, Hope Suggestions?
The Blue Moose Cafe in Hope always makes us happy for a quick stop. Panini sandwiches are the usual pick but everything looks good. www.bluemoosecafe.com. (I just posted this spot on another traveler's question coming from Calgary and no, I don't work for them, just enjoy them whenever we travel from the Okanagan to Vancouver.)

Any Good Eats on the Drive from Calgary to Salt Spring Island?
We're usually hungry for a little something when we get to Hope, whether traveling east or west, and we like the Blue Moose www.bluemoosecafe.com. We usually get one of their paninis but everything looks good.
Nasty Little Treats
Gizzards...you've reminded of one of my favorite alterations. Instead of Dirty Rice, I make Dirty Quinoa with chopped chicken gizzards, hearts and livers.
Grilled Cheese - favorite variations?
Sounds like a media noche (Cuban sandwich) to this Miami ex-pat.
grocery store food finds -- shortcuts that taste great!
Discovered Red Curry Sauce quite by accident recently when "the shopper" was asked to get green curry paste. President's Choice brand as I remember. We added it toward the end of tender blade steak, onions, carrots, garlic and lots of mushrooms.
Do you peel?
Mmm...potato skins. I need to make more friends who don't like them so they can eat the potato and I can have the skins with butter. Or maybe I'll start baking potatoes for potato salad and I'll eat the skins.
_______ ruins my figure/diet/life
Two separate clubs -- jelly beans and licorice. Your membership in the jelly bean club is secure in my eyes.
Care to share your Costco grocery list?
I forgot to put the quinoa on my list -- it's prewashed!
_______ ruins my figure/diet/life
I agree and yet...I think red licorice is the exception. If my friends are any indication, there will be plenty of argument here but red licorice just seems...not right. Licorice is black. Just like chocolate is various shades of brown and not white.
_______ ruins my figure/diet/life
I wonder why they don't market them by color...mix and match...or do they?
Care to share your Costco grocery list?
Pork ribs
Boneless pork chops
Multigrain crackers, the gluten free ones with sesame seeds
Coffee
Cheese -- parm, old cheddar, jalapeno jack
Tzatziki -- delicious and so much easier than making it myself
Frozen edamame
Hellman's mayo
Coffee
Frozen sea scallops
_______ ruins my figure/diet/life
Wasabi peas! Also around Christmas, PC (President's Choice) had dark chocolate covered caramels sprinkled with sea salt. I'm sure they made them smaller than previous years as I needed more to satisfy. Many more.
_______ ruins my figure/diet/life
Jelly beans...old fashioned, not gourmet, jelly beans. The only thing that keeps me somewhat moderate is when all the reds and blacks are gone.
Songs with restaurant names in the lyrics
There must be one or more Tom Waits songs about certain diners in LA but I can't come up with them. Anyone?
