Advice for Panzano.....Lunch or Dinner at Dario's places?
Hi,
My wife and I will be in Tuscany (staying here: http://www.tenutailcorno.com/index.php ) for 3 nights and 2 days. June 6/7/8
I'd like to go Panzano and visit Dario Cecchini's shop (Antica Macelleria Cecchini) and have a meal at one of his places....any recommendations/experiences on the 3 choices:
Solo Ciccia
MacDario
Officina della Bistecca
Any advice would be appreciated (assuming there are even any reservations left for the dinner options...)
Thanks in advcance,

Family places to eat in DC
Thank you for all the replies. We will arrive Wednesday around lunch and will be staying at the Liaison the first night (415 NJ Ave) and the next 2 nights with family outside washington and driving in.
So, we will basically be out and about mainly around the mall area and probbaly the zoo are one of the days.
So, basically, my trip will be 4 lunches and 2 dinners I would guess. I missed Ben's Chili Bowl last time, this time is a must.
Good Stuff Eatery and teaism look pretty good.
Thanks again for past and future advice. One more day before we leave.

Family places to eat in DC

4 days based in Florence area
Wow, thank you. I think a car is a must to get to the little towns and find the places to eat. Quick stops in small cafes seems like the plan.
How about vineyards? Where are the ones worth stopping at. Do any offer a bite to eat?
4 days based in Florence area
Understood, all food talk.....
Thanks to all, this is very valuabkle advice I have received. My research continues.
By the way, I didn't get into the demo that Dario Cecchini did tonight over here (it was sold out), but I did shake his hand outside and told him I would be visiting him for a meal in June at his place in Panzano!
Next questions....what are must have foods to try in Florence/Tuscany area....like lampredotto....Bistecca alla Fiorentina......what else?
4 days based in Florence area
Hello and thanks in advance for any help.
I will be in Florence around 24 June - 28 June.
I am thinking basing myself in Florence with one day in Florence and 3 days making day trips around the area. Overnights if necessary.
I've read about Sienna, Lucca, Moltepulciano, Panzano, Montalcino.....they all seem equally beautiful.....
I'd like to go to Panzano to see Dario Cecchini's butcher shop (the irnoy is he will be doing a demo tomorrow night near Boston, USA about 20 minutes from my house and it is sold out! 32 person waiting list!!!!) and a friend has recommended the Cennatoio Winery nearby Panzano as well....
I know I need more time, but 4 days will do it as I will take the 5th day to go to Venice....
I'd be happy seeing Florence's mesuems and churches in a day and spending the other 3 days driving around Tuscany eating in small towns and going to vineyards. This is as much of a food trip as anything else to be completely honest.
Thanks again,

3 meals in Portland with the kids
here's the followup (copied from an email I wrote to a friend)
hit the road on saturday around 7, pulled into hot suppa! around 9am:
http://www.hotsuppa.com/
cool place, very home-y looking. Young, hipster-ish crowd and help. I got the corned beef has with a couple poached eggs.I didn't even know corned beef hash existed. Unbelievable. My wife got a breakfast burrito and the kids split pancakes and french toast with gooood maine syrup. All was aweosme, but that corned beef hash was the star.
Walked breakfast off around Portland for a few hours after breakfast. Around every corner there were unbeleivable food stores and wine stores. Like a foodie dream. One place has about 18 steel vats of oils and vinegars to try. These places were all packed. I could have spent all day in them.
Went here and grabbed a couple steamed prok dumplings to go before hopping on a ferry ride to Peaks island and back. Cool little bubble team place with some asian snacks, like a place I see in chinatown in boston.
http://bubblemaineia.com/
Went to Standard Baking Co. for some molasses cookies and a chocolate croissant. Gooood.
http://www.roadfood.com/Restaurant/Reviews/4158/standard-baking-company
Walked around some more in and out of all of the shops.Picked up and promptly drank a beer made by these guys, they must be small as I only saw it in one place, but it was fantastic:

bought it here:
http://www.downeastbeverage.com/
I found the greatest bookstore in the world. Rabelais. Nothing but old and new books on food. I bought a memoir on eating chiense food there. This is a foodie book dream store:
http://www.rabelaisbooks.com/rabelais%20home.html
We went to http://www.micucci.com/ an cool italian grocery store. The pizza in the back was long sold out but we bought some wine, mixed olives and a chunk of cheese for snackig later. Also bought some house made vodka sauce...we'll see how that is.
Took a tour of the Shipyard brewery after that and bought some Stout and some of their homemade sodas after that.
http://www.shipyard.com/
We went to dinner at Duckfat. Wow. Had a couple local beers on tap. The girls and my wife got a tuna and a meatloaf panini and we also got fries made in duck fat.I got the poutine....fries, duck gravy and covered in maine cheese. Food coma food.Wow. The owner has a fancier place down the street, but this place is his way more causal place. He won the James Bread award for 2009 best chef of the Northeast...
http://www.duckfat.com/
Made a quick stop at Browne Trading Company before heading out to get some house smoked salmon tartare and a nice bottle of maple syrup. Again, one of the many over the top food stores:
http://www.brownetrading.com/
No good/affordable/vacant hotels were really available. So the night before we found Beach Farm Inn in Wells. We got a 2 bedroom cottage with a kitchen for $120....awesome.
http://www.beachfarminn.com/
After the kids went to sleep,we enjoyed some of the stuff we bought earlier in the day.Nice to stay at a place where you could close bedroom doors and not be trapped in a single room with 3 kids at 8pm :)
We headed to Congdons Donughts in Wells in the morning. 40 people were in line and it's been around 50years. Hands down the best doughnuts I have had in my life. The kids and jessica got coconut and cinnamon and I got a blueberry fritter and a light light raises sugar donut. I eat donuts twice a year maybe and these were the real deal.
http://congdons.com/
Drove to Ogunquit and walked along the beach on the Marginal Way cliff wlak thing.Wow. Super gorgeous. Never been up there.
Then we drove to York Beach which was packed for the last big weekend of the year. The girls got some saltwatrer taffy from Goldenrod which my wife used to go to as a kid quite a bit. The girls played inthe arcade a little bit as well and we walked aorund the beach.
http://www.thegoldenrod.com/
Then we drove to Kittery for a couple quick stops.I bought some apple and hickory smoker chips at the Kittery Trading post.
We ended the weekend at Chauncey Creek Lobster Pier. Last weekend of the year for this place. A pier on a creek. BYOB. About 15 minutes outside of Kittery. We had a fresh crab sandwich, steamers, onion rings and right before we left decided to get a lobster roll and some chili. Some people even brought their own table clothes and wine and glasses. This was a real deal Maine experience...they pull the water slat water they boil the lobsters in right out of the creek...

I think that is it:)

Thanks everyone for all of the help.
3 meals in Portland with the kids
Hi,
My wife and I are heading up to Portland on Saturday for the day.
We'll have breakfast, lunch and dinner there (and most likely the children's museum at some point).
My girls are 4,7 and 7. They eat everything.
Can anyone suggest a place for each meal. Casual is preferred, counter service is fine. Maybe a food market, bakery or a brewery tour as well?
I've read some good things about Hot Suppa and Duckfat.
Thanks for any help.

Food re: airport transfer
Hi,
I'm heading to Bermuda next Friday (starting in Boston),
I am flying into LaGuardia around 12:15pm and have to trasnfer to JFK for a 5:05pm flight.
I think there is a shuttle between them, but is there anything between them (or at either airport) worth checking out for lunch for an hour or so.....seems as if I will have a lot of layover time....
Any recomedations worth it.I (and my wife) will have my carry on with us so we'll have plenty of time in between....
Thanks,

9th trip to Hong Kong - Need something special and different
Right - now I know why I was looking for the wrong name.
Went to Haiphiong Road today and ate in the temporary market. My friend found a cockroackh in his beef brisket soup....he got a new bowl and lunch continued without incident. VERY good. Bugs aside. Goit some vegetable with bean curd as well....a new taste for me.
Here's a few pictures

OK, the Malaysian place was closed and the place next to it was not names Cho Choi Moon.....?
Also, I looked for Lok Sau Sun and found two places, no english whatsoveer, so didn;t know which was right. One was a one room restaurant and the other looked a little fancier (I was wearing shorts so didn;t head in). Either one could have been the address "1-5"....any advice....
Ended up eating outside at Temple Street (at Spicy crab0 and had scallops in the shell with black bean sauce and some fried noodles and pork. Alos had some apple/celery/carrot/bitter melon juice, some octupus on a stick and just bought a few branches of what I think is lychee. As always, can't go wrong here with food.

Just arrived - heading out to Temple Street for some gifts for the kids and may check out Lok Sau Sun or some spicy Crabs al fresco in the market....

Happy Mother's day to all...
Unfortunately, looks Like I may not make it to Art Mel's since they are closed 2 of the days I will there and Saturday night I will most likely make my way to Blackbeard's....
I ike the idea that Lemon Tree is near a park. I've had some of the most memorable meals of my life picnic style....my wife and I backpacked aorund europe after we got engaged and had a simple picnic in front of the Eiffel Tower on our day through Paris. If the weather cooperates, you really can't beat it. Plus, it is hard to spend $150 on a take-away meal!
I tend to stay away from Hotel Restaurants, but any good Hotel bars worth sticking my head into?
