Heavens Bistro Pizza
Their website makes it look like it's not available in the LA area that I could see. Did you check with TJ's to see if they can get it for you?
Place near the water in Santa Monica for drink
If you just want a drink and an appetizer then give the Lobster a try. Right at the entrance to the Santa Monica pier on Ocean Ave.
Dinner Near Cedars Sinai
Here's a link to a recent thread all about places in that neighborhood:

Any good fungus among us?
Josie has a great mushroom sandwich, (in puff pastry) as a starter: http://www.josierestaurant.com/entermain.htm
Unfortunately it's too early for matsutake season or you would have a real feast for your brother to sample. Tell him to come back in Sept.
Du-Pars Up to Par 24 hrs. a day
Were they 24 hrs. before? They made a point to note it on their website and I couldn't recall if that was the case before the refurbishment / make over.
Goodbye Zankou
Thanks for adding the name. Here is a link to a recent LA board review of Soumarelo:

Cioppino and Bouillabaisse
Might as well link this other recent thread on the very same subject (and this thread has a lot more replies) for future Hounds use: http://www.chowhound.com/topics/386680?query=bouillabaisse
One great LA dinner

Avatar ID missing in "My Chow"
Looks like another bug needs to have a little Raid sprayed on it. I posted on this aspect of the glitch (avatar not enlarging when cursor rolled over it) before I knew that you had already covered the issue. Englargement not working for me with either Firefox or IE 7.0.
Du-Pars Up to Par 24 hrs. a day
After my morning constitutional I drove over to Du-Pars at the Farmers Market this morning. I was there just a bit after 5 a.m. and there were two other tables occupied. I decided to have the #1 combo which is a short stack with bacon (or you can get turkey sausage links). Still some of the best pancakes in LA and excellent thick cut bacon done perfectly (crispy yet with enough pliability still left so that it doesn't shatter into pieces when you bite into it). Coffee was also very good, and they bring you a large glass of ice water without any need to ask. The redo of the space has brought the interior back to it original glory. Big comfy booths. Just a great spot for an early breakfast. A little over $10 with tax, plus tip. As I was waiting for my food a plate of eggs benedict went by that looked wonderful. Next week back for the benedict.
NE corner of 3rd and Fairfax at the Farmers Market.
Goodbye Zankou
Yeah. I went back and started googling maps and finally hit it in Pasadena and was coming back to add it to my post but you got there first. Now if you can come up with the name of the restaurant you will have hit the daily double.
Goodbye Zankou
"There's a new place on Allen at Queensberry (just south of Washington)"
Would that be Allen at Queensberry on the Westside, Eastside, Southside, Northside, Orange County or possibly Ventura?
Any SUPER early morning b'fast spots in Pasadena for Saturday? (aka - save me from Denny's!)
I think I'll get up very early tomorrow and go over to Du-pars at the Farmers Market and have hot cakes and bacon and feel blessed to live where the early a.m. food choices are abundant. ;-D

The earliest Central Park opens is 7:30 a.m.

Sorry for not spoting that caveat in your original post. Tell him that their huevos rancheros will give him a new perspective on their food.
Family, Kid-Friendly Restaurants
Tia Juana is a good suggestion, and they could probably set up their party up in the back room which would almost be like having a private room in some respects. Also Fritto Misto in Santa Monica for Italian is a possibility.

If you don't mind more of a Mexican breakfast menu then Tonny's in Pasadena will fill your needs. Here is a link to a previous review from last year. Open 24 hours (or was before but maybe check to make sure that is still the case).

Intimate anniversary dinner
Ethiopian is exactly what you are describing and Diana's suggestion of Rahel is excellent for your purposes.
If you feel like spending more without going over the $30 pp mark then you might give Indian or Moroccan food a try. Chakra in Beverly Hills is nicer Indian and Chameau is nice and creative for Moroccan food.

froggy's in topanga
It's much more about being up in the canyon as the sun is going down and feeling like you're a million miles from LA. The food and service can range from okay to less than okay. Nothing wrong with nostalgia. Give it another try.
Need a serious sea urchin fix!!!!
Also Safe and Save market on Sawtelle would be a likely place to check with.
Burgers and oysters
Did you ever celebrate your birthday with burgers, oysters and mary's - oh my! ;-D
Dinner/LA/Friday night
Less than a mile from your hotel is Ca Del Sole. Beautiful restaurant with good food. Here is a link to their website:

"Catching" Your Own Dinner
Another Sportmans Lodge fisherman! It's nice to know a few of us who fished at the SL are still hanging around. I went back once not too long ago out of a pure sense of nostalgia. Not a good idea in terms of the food.
This Japanese machine reminds me of one of those machines at the arcade with the hooks that you lower onto the stuffed animals and try to "catch" one. Hopefully this seafood catcher works better than that.
Ventura Cty Greek Festival?? When?? Where?
When you need to know who - what - when - where - or why: Google's the name and googling's the game:

Robertson/Burton Way- Favorite Restaurants?
Just around the corner from you on 3rd Street is Orso. One of the nicest patio's in Los Angeles and the food is good as long as you keep it simple.

Note to Lisa: sorry I didn't notice that you had already rec'd Orso
