Hello CHowhounders,
I need to plan(from the easst coast) a dinner party for around 30 academic types most of whom are foodies. Anyone have any suggestions for a hip,fun place with good food that can handle a group?

New to Oak Ridge/Knoxville
ust got back from the rowing Club Nationals in Oak RIdge TN. My group had 2 dinners catered at the Flatwater Grill and they were a huge hit! We also catered a lunch and had fruit salad and pasta salad at our tent site the last day.
The Flatwater is located on lLake Melton right on the starting line. They accommodated our group of 115 easily and can hold more in their function rooms. After the buffet,our club went out on the deck,happily chatting and watched some teams practice.
The chef/owner,Dean,has made a rowing package that worked great and made me the most popular parent coordinator our group has ever had-the food was that good!
They have a wood grill and their cooking times are down to a science because everything was moist and perfect. We had their Salmon,Grilled chicken and Pork along with Pasta w/veggies,salad and great cheesecake. Thanks to them,My daughter will now eat Squash,I grill it like they do although I have not managed quite the right mix of seasonings.
FYI-don't try to book the Saturday or Wednesday of next year's Club Nationals. I have beaten you to it!

I just got back from a rowing trip in Oakridge and wanted to pass along a lucky find. There is a restaurant on the starting line that accommodated my team of 120 and fed us amazingly fabulous,well-priced food. I highly recommend their catering. Beautiful views and wonderful food!
They have a wood grill and served moist salmon(much to all our surprises) and a variety of
other meats,pastas and veggies. Their Cosmos were 4.00-a welcome shock to all of us who are starting to pay New York drink prices in Boston.
Places I also used: Panerra Bread for our end of trip box lunches(manager Dave couln't have been more helpful).Soccer Taco from Knoxville for Mexican. Nelia was so helpful and was a delight to work with.
Didn't love the BBQ place I chose, will be emailing my TN chowhounders next year for more suggestions!

We used Bunny and had a great meal. She was a delight to work with and served the meal with her daughter. thanks for the recommendation...
Now iif I can find as good of one in Oakridge TN i will be all set... :)

Hello CHowhounders-My rowing team is coming to CIncinnati harsha lake june 11,12 and 13
I need to find a good caterer who wil bring dinner to the course thursday night(healthy and yummy) and possible lunch friday saturday and sunday. the cost has got to be reasonable.
also a dinner location (we are staying at eastgate holisday inn for friday.

just back from tremont 647. we had a private room because there were 7 of us. it took too long for the food to come-but eveyone really enjoyed it. the homemade pop tart was yummy. they should have hammedup the pj part a little-they didnt have humor about it. Bakerboyz-you have allowed me to keep my reputation as a fun picker,thanks! thanks for all the other suggestions,too.my companions are usually staying at the boston harbor hotel and it is so nice to get out of there into Boston!
