Thai in Westchester - Rate Your Best
Swaddee is not good at all.I've tried dinner takeout from there twice -- pad thai was greasy (something I've never run into before with that dish) and chicken masaman curry had no heat and very little chicken. The pad see ew was ok but nothing special.
Only tried Thai House in Ardsley once, and it was nothing memorable. I've given up on Thai in Westchester (Red Lotus is a little out of the way) and just get it at a couple of places in NYC when I'm there.
Frank's Restraunt in meatpacking area .
Frank's has been terrible since they moved into Chelsea Market. When they were across the street, (where Craftsteak is now) it was quite a decent place.
Slow service, and both times I've been there in the past year, steak was either over or undercooked. I ate around the undercooked part of a rib eye, and what was edible was decent, but just not worth the overall hassle. The overcooked steak was during a holiday party with a large group, so it's kind of forgivable, but I don't know how a steakhouse would serve a well-done steak.
Tayste [White Plains]
We just got an assortment of stuff for lunch from Tayste (got it to go) and was all spectatular. The Philly cheesesteak was as good as I've had in Philly (it would have beat Steve's if it was bigger), regular or sweet potato fries were tasty and not greasy. Sliders with cheese, and a chili dog also were really well put together, especially the chili.
The only complaint is that the fries don't travel well (they were a bit limp after the 15 minute trip back to the office) and they only have soda from the fountain (which also doesn't travel well), but definitely a two thumbs up.
It didn't look sloppy behind the counter, and they were relatively busy with phone orders. One guy who was having lunch at the counter seemed kind of grumpy because the boss guy kept trying to chat with him to see how lunch was, but the fact that the guy devoured everything probably isn't a bad sign either.
We'll see how they are on a weekend, but this is a new favorite for weekday lunch that's cheap and tasty.
