what should i know about in the telford area?

I just moved to the telford/souderton area not long ago... down the street from hendricks farm (decadent!!).

I have found lots of great stuff so far, and am very familiar with just about everything from philly to lansdale. There have to be some great divey spots around these parts that I haven't discovered yet... recommendations?

Thanks in advance!!

Taqueria la Morena

they have 2 high chairs at least. no problem to bring the kids!

Taqueria la Morena

la morena is very good. but have you tried el limon in conshy? you must go!!!

Appalachian Brewing Company - Collegeville

went a few weeks ago - what a great place to take kids! their kids' meals come with a little appetizer plate - they got watermelon, crackers and cheese. a massive hit.

other than that, everything that my husband and i ordered was very tasty. my salad was very fresh. and they have poutine! the gravy, good lord, the gravy.....

New Place in Ambler?

while getting my hair cut in a salon on main st, my stylist told me that it was going to be "mediterranean".

and there is my big contribution to this thread! :)

no Basmati rice at Assi Market

just bought a big sack from wegmans @ $2/lb. probably overpriced, but convenient while doing weekly shopping.....

Odd experience at Warrington Wegman's

i had the same experience. tried to buy cupcakes and beer... no-go!

i'll never forget when i moved here from NY and walked into a 7-11 looking for beer....

Rey Azteca in Warminster

we love rey azteca - cheap, tasty, massive portions, amazing for kids... my toddlers love it too!

and coincidentally, we were there last night at about the same time also - did you see us with our 2-yr-old twin boys?

edited to add - they will give you a spicier salsa on request just FYI.

What was the simplest and quick Indian Dish that you prepared?

chana masala - easy, fast, tasty, nutritious!

Care Package for New Mom

you are amazing. the new mom is going to appreciate it so much!

ISO frosting that's not too sweet and doesn't call for 4 cups of butter

i was going to say the same thing about the whipped cream. i'm not into super sweet frosting either - i am the type to scrape 90% off of it, too.

i'd whip up a bunch of heavy cream with a bit of sugar added to taste and call it a day. it doesn't get simpler or tastier than that!

and if the cake is really sweet you really don't even need to add sugar IMO....

What do you like to cook for yourself when your spouse or family isn't around?

scrambled egg on superthin slice of toast w/ketchup and much, much pepper. it's my thing......

Just got a Le Creuset as a gift...now what?

pot roast! add lots of carrots and potatoes. and then invite me over.......

kiddie birthday spot?

my sons will be 2 at the end of this month and i'm having the toughest time figuring out a spot for their party.

i'd love to find a place that is casual yet really delicious, and has a room we can use that will accommodate about 25 adults + 4 toddlers. a separate room is key so that the kids can be free to bop around and i don't have to be concerned with watching their every move the entire time.

not really interested in kid-specific places, as they don't really seem to make sense unless you have a lot of kids attending the party.

i live in the maple glen area and would ideally like to keep it as close as possible... but i am open to suggestions, so long as they're not in center city or the western burbs!

would appreciate any and all ideas, thanks so much!

Reco's on upper 309 area

you need to go to goomba's, like, yesterday! their sandwiches are out of control.....

Anthoy's Coal-Fired Pizza: Horsham

i agree, would rather go to arpeggio (or grandma's grotto) any day of the week.

i like crispy/burnt things, so that isn't really my issue with the pizza at this place... but the sauce and toppings just totally lack flavor in my opinion. the salad was fine, nothing special. totally overpriced for what it is. went with a friend and got 2 small pizzas, a salad, soda and focaccia and the bill was pushing $50. kind of silly!

Sweet Bytes Bakery (yes, Bakery!) Grand Opening

thanks for the news - always looking for a good bakery nearby!

Goomba's has some serious eats

everything there is amazing. the sandwiches are totally righteous. you cannot go wrong at this place!

Village Whiskey - ever been?

really yummy. and the space is nice. but yeah... i would definitely go on a slower night so that it's not so packed.

Reccommendation for Beer and Dinner place?

hey sukmon, if you want to go out of center city a smidge check out bridgids in fairmount. food is reasonably priced and tasty, lots of belgian beers on tap, plus it's in a small little cozy space. and down the street is the eastern state penitentiary, which is neat to stumble by afterwards!

Good Pizza? Montco

search no more - grandma's grotto in horsham (on route 611) has great pizza. i am a born and bred new yorker and this is absolutely the closest thing i can find in the area. they do a square pie that is really really great.

the owners are from staten island, where they owned a pizza shop previously. the entrees are amazing too. plus, they have chicken rolls! mmm... chicken rolls... it's the only place in the area where i can find one of those... reminds me of high school... memories....

Saffron in Ambler

i think beer is better personally. a good crisp lager with indian food = A+!

Pumperniks in Montgomeryville

the pickle bar is totally righteous. it is the only place where i can find real half-sours other than schlepping to the northeast for the russian grocery stores... the cucumbers are to die for also, and i can shovel the cabbage salad into my face at an alarming rate as well :)

best deli i've found around these parts for sure. awesome corned beef. really tasty knishes too, not dry. split pea soup is yum... everything is good, really!

Earth Bread Brewery just lost a customer

i'm really surprised. i've been there several times with my twins (as babies and as toddlers) and was always well-accommodated there. i wonder if the seating at 5 thing is new, as my husband, the kids and i definitely got there right as they were opening once a few months ago and had no problem being seated at a table right away, downstairs, giant double stroller and all.

if you care enough, i would call and let the management know for sure... sounds like a bad hostess issue... if it were my restaurant, i'd want to know about this person!

Aman Indian on Limekiln Pike in Chalfont-ish?

^^agreed, it's fabulous!! better than tiffin or saffron in ambler, even, IMO

Aman Indian on Limekiln Pike in Chalfont-ish?

posted this in the Pennsylvania board initially, whoops....

Drove by and saw a sign for Aman Indian somethingsomething (Bistro? Restaurant? whatever) in the newer shopping plaza on 152, I think it's near where Stump Road intersects. Couldn't see if it was open or what. Anyone know the deal? Could it be the same owners as the one in E Norriton? Dying to know!

lunch for ~25 near horsham/upper dublin?

it's my boys' 1st birthday at the end of the month, and i'd like to take some family out for lunch. i'd appreciate any ideas as to where to do it... my mind is kind of mush lately ;) in the horsham/upper dublin/ambler-ish area. or not too far from it. i'm open.

just did a party @ iron hill, so that's out.

thanks in advance!!!

Do you drink Wawa coffee?

i also don't like DD coffee, i think it tastes odd. if i do wawa it's the dark roast for sure, which isn't bad at all, especially for gas station coffee!

i really do prefer to brew my own and bring it along, though. starbucks is ok, but stupidly expensive. i like lots of milk in mine and NO sugar, blech...

Saffron in Ambler

yay, indian close by! thanks for the review. wonder if they have high chairs? anyone know?
