London (Near Marylebone - Sunday night dinner) Indian or Pub food ideas?

Hi again, thanks again for weighing in on this. We were there on the Sunday of the Queen's Jubilee so... everything was closed pretty much except a few restaurants. We ended up eating at Woodlands which we enjoyed. We'll try a few of these the next time we are there.

Thanks for the options! Excited to try some of these. We are coming from Italy so I think we'll go the pubs fish and chips route tonight.

Two of us staying in Marylebone for one night. We are craving Indian but are happy to go to a fun pub to eat/drink too. Any subway or approximate taxi distance info from Marylebone is much appreciated.

Il Sole? anyone been?

Ate at Il Sole for Restaurant Week.... ordered the $44 pre-fix meal. Then came the "Tonight we also have a special Appetizer". Ever ordered an appetizer that was was $88 without having any idea of the cost? Ever thought a wait staff wouldn't mention this fact to you when you were adding this on to your $44/PP pre-fix meal? Ever thought this would happen after you explain you have never dined there before? Appalled, will never ever go back. Il Sole... just a tip... maybe print out the specials with prices if your wait staff is too uncomfortable to say them before customers order. I don't know why this is so hard, it's done all over town. Never again. Very very disappointed.

"Group" ideas for Halloween weekend

This weekend is going to be a weird one. I am going to SF to meet up with a group that will be likely 10 people total all flying into SF. It's a friend's birthday so I am not in control of where we eat (the nightmare continues) but I want to gently suggest some ideas hopefully make some reservations as needed. Background... Gary Danko a few years ago was (so far) the best meal of my life with a close second/near tie with 11 Madison Park in NYC a few months ago. I won't be able to get this group of people to fine dining but every trip I confirm that SF is my favorite food city in the U.S.!

We are staying at Hotel Abri/Union Square area. Group is a bunch of gays so any suggestions on drinks/bars too would be appreciated... not just in Castro but we are equal opportunity cocktail lovers.

Here's some questions/help needed: If we all eat together for a few meals... how do we deal with the 10 people?! I guess multiple tables could work but I have never dealt with a big group in SF for my delicious food trips.

Breakfast (likely can do as a couple vs. group) suggestions: I read a few posts and found Momma’s, Canteen, Tartine, Dottie’s, Brenda’s French Soul Food and Foreign Cinema (Loved Dottie's in the past, but I am looking for not too far from Union Square not a long wait options.)

Bars/Beers/Wine/Cocktails: Lately the wife and I are obsessed with beer. Current fav Weihenstephaner from Germany. Would love any and all amazing beer list/bar suggestions.

Lunch/Dinner (Again caveat the large group) would love any type of food suggestions for a group/not a hideous wait or reservations ok for our group.

Monday early lunch for only four people. Thinking of doing Dim Sum any suggestions? Likely want to go right when they open then head to airport after.

Thanks in advance!

Best Poke on Oahu? (Need nearby Waikiki and North Shore suggestions, will have car)

I heard Poke Stop, but would love some other ideas particularly for the North Shore. Got some from Foodland last trip, but I know there is better Poke out there, just where????

Oahu North Shore Meals...

Hi there, we stayed a weekend at Turtle Bay and had a great dinner at Lei Lei’s. There are only like four options there for dinner, but this one on the golf course was casual but really suprisingly yummy. We had to make reservations from the hotel it was really crowded.

Last trip we ate at Haleiwa Joe's Seafood Grill, but I hear Jameson's is better? It (Haleiwa) did have really good burgers and beers if you are out for the day to explore beaches vs. staying at Turtle Bay. I thought their poke was only so so. http://www.haleiwajoes.com/

Also we plan on trying:
Ted's Bakery (Known for Hauipia pie, but good burgers too)
59-24 mehameha Highway Haleiwa, HI 96712-9723, (808) 638-8207

I have a bunch of others I pulled from other chow threads, but nothing I personally tried so ?

We are going in May and staying one night in Waikiki before we fly back. Our dear friend who lived on Oahu for a few years says her fav place there is Hiroshi, followed by Chef Mavro. Here's what she said about Hiroshi

Hiroshi - Okay, this is my absolute favorite restaurant in Hawaii. The upsides: The food ROCKS. Really, the best on the island in my book. Also, for the money, the quality is outstanding. One of the two Master Sommeliers in Hawaii is a partner in the restaurant. If he is there, which he often is, you can tell him the price that you want to spend on a bottle, and he will pull something magical from their cellar. The prices on wine here are exceedingly fair, and the selections are AMAZING. The MS is very partial to the Central Coast, and has many great selections that he has hand selected, and are impossible to get unless you are of his stature in the wine world. On top of that, he is a very unassuming and laid back dude. Their wine menu changes weekly, so if he isn't there, there will be lots of goodies to choose from.

The downside: Atmosphere. It is in this weird place called "Restaurant Row". I believe that the space was once occupied by a restaurant that was owned by some of the actors from Magnum P.I.. Some of the stuff in the restaurant looks to be still from that era. Needless to say, the decor is pretty hideous, and does not at all reflect the quality of the food & wine situation. They have tried to fancy it up, but it's very "local style". Also, the place will most likely be filled with local people that are less than exciting to be around, but not really any tourists.

If you are just looking for the best overall food an wine experience, this is the place.

Would love some ideas for SB trip on 4/17. Want to go for early food before concert so eating pretty early, likely 5-6pm-ish. Two "we eat everything" looking to focus maybe on more casual seafood or Mexican as I recall there were some great places there.

Also would love ideas for wine/beer places either before and/or after concert. Interested in some wines by the glass and lately loving beers too. (Beers like the Belgium white style such as Allagash White or local micro brew would be fun.) Hope to cab around so want to focus on downtown or not too far from Bowl area.

Dinner suggestions in Pasadena tonight?

It will be four adults, but one person very "meat and potatoes" type of eater. Looking for a moderately priced maybe bistro type of place, but not "cheap eats" for sure. Isn't there a really good Spanish place in Pasadena? I am trying to recall the places in Pasadena getting some "best of" attention too.

Best food near Carson, CA (Home Depot Center)

I know, it is pretty bleak near there. There's a Tony Roma's nearby, but rethinking and going to likely each on the way down to the area, maybe Redondo or Manhattan Beach instead. If you want to eat first before 6pm w/o drinks maybe Bodacious Q and then just go somewhere for cocktails nearby? argh.
