Penne with Asparagus, Sage and Peas (April Food & Wine)
Do you think if I made this for a baby shower it will hold well. Shower is at 1pm, I will be dropping off food around 12 noon to host. I would imagine they would start eating around 1:30-2. Also, if I am doubling pasta should I double the sauce. Don't think I will double Asp & Peas because I AM SICK OF GOING TO STORE!! Your imput will be appreciated.

THIS IS WHAT I NEED HELP ON: PASTA SIDE-baked ziti or sausage and red pepper pasta but not loving either of these options
roasted pepper, carrots, eggplant, zuchini, aspargus, garlic
everything will be cooked friday and brought over for shower. so items need to be able to make day before or at least quick final assembly saturday morning.

I second Marcella Hazan's "The Essentials of Italian Cooking". I also like some of the recipes in Giadas books. They are simple to make with ingredients that are easy to find.
Which recipe should i use truffle salt?
I am making 3 different tarts for Thanksgiving appetizers. I just bought a jar of truffle salt from Sur La Table. Do you think I can use it in any of these apps instead of the regular salt.
1) Fig, Prosciutto and Chevre Tart
2) Swiss, Carmilized Onion and Tomato Tart
3) Provolone, Capicolla, Roasted Red Peppers, Cream Spinach Tart
Do you think any of these will benefit of using this incedible salt?
Trendy for Teens
Taking four stunning 17 year old girls to NYC for a quick trip. They want a trendy hip place to go, where they can dress up and pretend part of the "Sex in the City" scene. Years ago I took my daughter to Balthazars and we had a few celebrity sightings. Willing to go anywhere in Manhattan but prefer to go in the Meat Packing, Greenwich, Soho area. Prefer not to go over $50 per without alcohol. A place with good food would be nice for the 2 moms going. FYI-don't think they will be into restaurant with heavy ethnic spin.
Need dinner recommendation for birthday on Saturday in North Broward!
For unusual you could eat in Grandma's Kitchen at Tavolino della Nonna. They have a room set up that look's just like my italian grandmothers did..thank god not old grey haired woman smacking me with a wooden spoon though! Every time I've been its extremely good..especially the tortellini in cream sauce with pears..yummy!
Kitchen Aid Mixer for kid
I friend is buying her daughter a mixer for her 12th birthday. She loves to cook/bake. I love my Kitchen Aid (took my parents from the 80s) but don't know what to receommend that is on the market now. Price isn't too much of an object, she just wants a mixer that is easy to use and will last long.

I arrive Saturday 6/14 into LGA at 7:45am for a 1 day shopping spree. Since not much is open want to have breakfast, maybe in Greenwich/Soho area since that is where we will start our shopping. Don't really think the "girls" (age 17-24) will want a full sit down breakfast so I think 'ino and sarabeth are out ;-(

Broward restaurants w/private "rooms" for birthday party
In Coral Springs there are two places with nice private rooms, both moderate prices.
Gold Coast Grill (954-255-3593, alot of seafood, great bar chips with blue cheese) on University Drive, South of Sample and Tavolino Della Nonna(954-509-0046,italian, awesome food) on Sample Road just west of University Drive.
Bulk cooking, then freezing ideas?
I always have baggies of cooked ground beef, sliced grilled chicken breast and pulled pork in the freezer. If one of the kids has practice I can make tacos for one, grilled chicken ceasar salad or pulled pork sandwich. If whole family is available but time is critical I have a huge head start for chili, pasta with olive oil, garlic, broccoli and chicken or white rice, can of black beans topped with pork, chopped onions, tomatoes and cilantro. (Of course these are just a few ideas with the 3 basics above)

Iron Rich Recipe
My daughter has a project for her Chemistry class and gets extra points if she brings in a food product rich in her element-Iron. It's for a class of 15-16 year olds so no organ meats would be eaten. Saw some recipes for Bran Muffins made with bran flake cerals...she wasn't lovin' that idea. Your help is appreciated.
Strawberry Cupcakes
on food network look up giada strawberry cupcakes with mascapone cheese. uses white cake mix, instead of water i added strawberry puree. the glaze is awesome. i find these addicting.
Salad Suggestions for a Pre-Wedding Dinner
A salad with fresh baby spinach, sliced strawberries & almonds with a poppy seed dressing. The spinach holds up extremely well on a buffet table. I made this Easter and had a small amount left over that still was great the next day. I use a recipe off allrecipes.com in the hall of fame section.
I am not a fan of mayo so when I make potato salad I just boil red potatoes, cut in half, mix with favorite italian salad dressing. Add some green onions and favorite seasonings. Taste better when I make it day before serving so flavors all meld together.
tomato, cucumber and onion salad is always a hit and colorful on a table.
Steak on a Stick
Making an appetizer for tomorrow night. I have a flap steak. Should I cube it or slice thin and thread on stick. Since they will be in smaller pieces I plan on only marinating an hour or two..opinions. Marinating in oil, lime, garlic, onion, s&p. Want to serve with a Chimichurri sauce on side.
Coral Springs Family
Every chain restaurant is up and down University Drive from the Sawgrass Expressway to Atlantic Blvd. For large baseball gatherings we go to Ale House or Pasquales alot. Food is okay at both. Pizza Time has awesome specialty pizza and sandwiches and has a very nice room for large groups.
Where is the meet? If it's at the CS Gym there is a Pasquales around the corner and a brand new BBQ called Stevie B's that is suppose to be very good.

I need help with an appetizer that is non-seafood for get together tomorrow night. So far I am serving boiled shrimp as an appetizer, but I cannot eat seafood. The rest of the meal is Paul Prudhommes Roasted Pork, smashed potatoes, roasted carrots, jambalaya with andouille sausage and chicken. Dessert will be a king cake and bananas foster.

Fort Lauderdale - group dinners
My daughter who is a junior in high school loves going to Taverna Opa. If you call in advance they will arrange a reasonalbe price pre fixe dinner if you go early enough. Everybody dances on the table. It's a blast!

My Tom is just over 24lbs. Don't have a final count but guessing around 20. Just made a 12.5lb for the bones, now that I've had my fill of turkey I can't wait to eat all the other good stuff.

I know many are "over" the butternut squash soup phase, but i've never made it and would like a tried and true recipe to use for a starter on Thanksgiving Day. Usually I test out what I am going to make but don't have time so I really need your help! T-I-A Marie

Thanksgiving side dishes: room temperature
You can keep a soup warm in the crock pot-a butternut squash soup would be perfect for thanksgiving, just serve in disposable coffee cups, to be sipped or spooned. I love to serve roasted vegetables room temp..i do mixture of carrots, red peppers and sweet potatoes. with lots of garlic & olive oil. all hold up well at room temp.
