Del's lemonade in Venice
I nearly dropped dead when I heard one opened out here. My friend went last week, and I've been biting my nails to go... finally going tomorrow!
Now if I could just get my hands on some NY Systems...
dive bars off ventura? help!
Yep, another vote for Pineapple. Decent place, decent food.
Bobby's - Breakfast in Woodland Hills
The waitress at Bobby's must have a twin sister at Nat's Early Bite here in Sherman Oaks/Van Nuys. Same efficiency and service! These two breakfast joints are easily the best places for cheap diner deliciousness in the Valley. Screw McDon'ts (McDonalds)... avoid that crap at ALL costs!
Casual first date in Burbank/surrounding areas?
I want to thank everyone for their excellent suggestions. I chose Aroma, and it was exactly what I was looking for. Perfect!! She shared some of my cheesecake (which was topped with a brownie...cue the Homer Simpson gargling sound) and spent the better part of three hours talking and laughing. I'm feeling a bit "Cloud 9" at the moment. I can't wait to go back to that area and try the other places that were mentioned-- they look just as good! Thanks again guys~
Agoura Hills Recs - Sushi? Korean?
Just my 2 cents on the Agoura "BBQ Boulevard":
While Willy's and WoodRanch BBQ are located on the same street and merely a block or two from each other, they are completely different places, each with their own delicious offerings. Willy's is smaller (quiet, relaxed) and reasonably priced, plus it is not a franchise. (Death to MOST franchise restaurants!) WoodRanch however is just simply "yummy". Expensive, but worth it.
I hate having to decide between the two when it comes to eating there...
Casual first date in Burbank/surrounding areas?
Thanks guys! Awesome info. I'm definitely thinking more of a "mom&pop/quaint" setting than a franchisey place such as ColdStone, but I really appreciate the info.
And yes, I'm hoping to impress her. =)
Casual first date in Burbank/surrounding areas?
Going to meet someone for the first time tonight and was just wondering where a good place to meet up would be. I'm hesitant to call it a "date"; but there is an attraction between us. I suggested something casual such as meeting for coffee (maybe Romancing the Bean?) but since it will be in the evening (8pm on), coffee might not be such a good idea as we both have to get up early for work. But then again, we don't HAVE to get coffee there...
Long story short, looking for cozy places (dessert shops? no bars please) to meet and talk, preferably in Burbank and surrounding locales: Studio City, NoHo, etc.
Valley Pizza Review (North Hollywood, Studio City, Sherman Oaks)
This picky pizza eater prefers Spumoni's on Ventura Blvd (Sherman Oaks). The sauce is spicy and the texture is excellent. I only get the pepperoni so I can't offer an opinion on the other types, but I'd bet they're just as good. And service? Oh man, this place knows how to treat their customers.
As for other pizza places nearby, I like Lido's pizza. Tried Barone's about 2 years ago, and wasn't impressed. Ameci's is excellent too.
Now I need to search for some Chicago-style pizza around here!
Someone explain The Fascination with Tommy's and Pinks?
I've only had Tommy's once, and I'll never go back. Never had Pink's, and never will.
Looking for an UNUSUAL restaurant
a) with an extremely UNIQUE ambience= Nova Sci-Fi Cafe
b) with decent-to-great food (while food's less important in this case, I still want it to be edible!)= Nova Cafe
c) reasonably priced= Nova Cafe
d) within a 10-mile (give or take) radius of the city= Nova Cafe, across from Canter's on Fairfax
http://www.novaexpresscafe.com/
Although, as one person described how Gardens of Taco is small, Nova is probably even smaller.
Coffee Milk
My sister will be coming out from Rhode Island to visit this "fawmuh Rho Dyelindah" the last week of May. If anyone is craving the liquid bliss that is cawfee milk syrup, then perhaps she could bring a bottle out for you. In return, you could maybe treat her to an In n Out burger or something...
Good Steamed Clams in Valley( SO or Studio City)
An old post, but with relevant information to be sure. Anyways, does anyone know IF there is a place in LA (and where that place might be!) that serves "stuffies"? These are traditionally quahog (or similar) shells stuffed with, you guessed it, baked breaded stuffing and clams. Or howsabout clam cakes?
Best Chinese food in Woodland Hills or nearby?
MANDARIN TIGER, 18900 Ventura Blvd (corner of Wilbur Ave) in Tarzana is a decent place, at least to this picky poster. Try the Pu-Pu trays, and maybe an entree or two, depending on how thick your wallet/purse is. Good ambiance too, if you care about that type of thing...
