Stuffing Help!!!

OK...so I am cooking for 15 adults. Menu is turkey, stuffing, sweet potatoes, roasted veggies, sauteed string beans, and cranberry sauce. I read a ton of stuffing recipes and purchased ingredients l liked in a bunch of them....I have sourdough bread, ls chicken stock, mild sweet sausage, onion, celery, granny smith apples, pecans, fresh sage, flat parsley, and I have a bunch of herbs/spices I could use. Now I get the concept making the stuffing but how much of each ingredient to I use to serve a good portion for 15 adults (who often take seconds I notice) and some leftovers? Please help! And....a thank you and Happy Thanksgiving to you!

Trader Joe's to move into Wild Oats space

OK...so I am happy and clearly Portland is better than the trek to Mass but every single week for 2 years...I have written to TJ's requesting they come to the Bangor area. Come on....you guys at least have whole foods.... Bangor/Orono/Brewer would be perfect for TJ's...it is a shopping mecca and pilgrimmage destination for people from Canada and Aroostook county.....close to Downeast and coast/summer people, lot of granola hippie/back to nature types, UMO, Husson etc, and darn it.....we deserve it up here! (But glad for my TJ fan brothers and sisters in Southern Maine.....and you can bet, I will make that trip at least once a month!!!!)

New Bangor Restaurants?

Any reviews of any of the new Bangor restaurants that have recently come on the scene?

Le Creuset outlet sale???

Does anyone know when the next one is? How often do they typically have them?

Thanks!

Savory Sweet Potato Dish in a crockpot

Everyone has been so helpful with my other posts--I figure I will throw this one out to the chowhounders as well! I am looking for a recipe for a savory sweet potato dish that can be made in a crockpot.

As an alternative, I love roasted sweet potatoes but with the oven being taken up by the turkey, I won't have time to roast them Thursday. I don't think that microwaving roasted sweet potatoes to warm them up would work.......would it?

Ideas anyone?

Thanks again!

Antipasto Platter Ideas Please!

I have been asked to bring a "Wonderful Antipasto (i?) Platter" for dinner. I will have to purchase everything at Whole Foods the day before....and yes....it has to be Whole Foods as there are no other options (cheese shops, delis, etc). I would prefer most to be just purchased but I can make some things if I know how! It is for 12 adults and the platter will be the only appetizer. What and how much do I purchase??? If I should make something, how??? Thank you so much for your help to this antipasto virgin......

Help-Thanksgiving Veggies/Sides Without an Oven!

Help-Thanksgiving Veggies/Sides Without an Oven!

Dear Good Chowhounders--

I need your help. I have been assigned to bring the veggie sides (except for mashed potatoes) for a Thanksgiving dinner for 12 people and have been told that there will not be ANY oven space for me. There is also limited refridgerator space for holding prior to cooking. Do you have any delicious recipes that involve broccoli or green beans and/or onions that can be made on the stove top or microwave. I am a lover of roasted veggies and I was planning on those plus some veggie gratin's prior to being told about the oven scene. Please help me!
Thank you!!!

Red Chicken Chili--no Beans - Need recipe

I am looking for a recipe for a good red chicken chili with no beans that uses both ground chicken and pieces of chicken. I had this at a pot luck and it was so good but I could not find the person who made it to get the recipe.

Thank you so much!

Yikes-Help with a menu with dietary constraints!

I need to cook a meal for 10 people next Sunday. Non-adventurous eaters. Prefer simple prepartion due to time constraints. Also would like to spend under 60.00. Have a well stocked pantry. Here are the issues!

1 person does not eat chicken or poultry.

1 person with CHF (congestive heart failure) so low fat and low sodium

2 people with diabetes so no sugar/lower carb

1 child 4 years old

Ideas????????

Thank you in advance.

Friar's Bakeshop Voted Best Whoopie Pie!

AHA!!! Didn't I tell you their whoopie pies were the best a couple of months ago!!!! Actually I have never had anything there that was not great. It is very crowded at lunchtime but if you can get there a bit early.....you are BLESSED!!!!!

RI weiners

The first seven years of my life were in RI.....on trips back to RI from Maine to visit family...getting "weinees" was a must (along with a trip Dell's for frozen lemonade)...my dad used to tell us what made this weinees so good was all the sweat from the guys who made them as they made them up the arm!

Best Whoopie Pies in Maine?

You must travel North to get the BEST whoopie pie. You will find it in good ole Bangor Maine in a little shop run by two friendly friars downtown....called Friars Bakeshop. They are, without question....the best. It is only open Wed-Sat for breakfast and lunch. They also travel to help in Haiti often so you may want to check first. They also have, hands down, the BEST sandwiches you will find anywhere.

dinner in bangor

OK....not a great deal in Bangor....

More upscale? New Moon Cafe is solid...overpriced...but solid.

Best food in Bangor? The Indian or Pakastani places downtown

Best atmosphere, good beer, but so so food? The deck at the SeaDog

Thistles is usually OK but pricey.

Cleonice in Ellsworth (1/2 hour away) is by far the best....and special...

Or....take out from Montes International Catering and have a picnic by the river
