If you only try one savory item here let it be the baked BBQ pork bun. It is seriously the best one in town. They had an off day several weeks ago but have been back on track my last couple of visits. Also highly recommended is the world rocking fruit custard tart.
Would it bother you ... scented foods?
This is a really revolting idea to me. It is more than enough that unregulated scents are invading every other area of our lives and making many of us ill.

Thanks for the advice all. Had the egg sunny side up before I saw 4Snisl's apt comment but luckily don't feel any worse for it. It was really yummy and I am plotting many other possible preps. The color of the yolk alone is worth the price of admission.

I bought a duck egg on impulse at the farmers market today. Now I'm unsure what to do with it. How is it different than a chicken egg other than being huge? It got a little dinged so whatever is happening with it is happening tomorrow am. Please advise.

I'm a little afraid of the meat at "gross out" so I didn't notice the bacon, nice find. My big thumbs up from this weeks trip are the Seeds of Change Mushroom Risotto for $1.99 and the triple chocolate Twix 3/$1.

I was happy when the bug swarm disappeared but I'm not even close to wanting to eat anything from there yet.
Please don't dis Take it Easy because it's not super traditional. The people are really nice and the duck curry is seriously heavenly ( I will order something else, someday).

Enjoy! Is it super fatty? That is my one complaint with Haagen Dazs ice cream, and I tend to like things that have a lot of fat. It seems to leave an unpleasant fatty layer on my tongue.

A half-pint of the Peanut Butter is currently waiting for the proper movie to meet its end during. I also found the Dublin Mudslide and the Black and Tan disappointing. In addition, if I want chunks of chocolate or fudge of the size they have been using, I'll just have a candy bar instead of ice cream.
Coffee at work: When will we hit the tipping point?
My coffee habit started when I had a job with two pots of Petes going at all times. The company was mismanaged and went out of business (not because of the coffee) but not before they made me into a total coffee snob! Thanks guys. Now I would rather do without than drink bad coffee. Alas, I just started a new job and there is no coffee pot at all so I brew a big pot in the morning (usually the organic D'aquino from TJs) and have really bonded with my huge travel mug .
Best NY style pizza in SF?
There is a place on Geary st. about a block from the Balboa theater that is pretty good based on my one visit, one slice sample. :) It's kind of a hole in the wall so you should like that aspect. Crust was crisp if not totally cracker-like, sauce wasn't the usual sugarbomb and extra sauce is free. Don't know about the sausage since I had mushroom. Wish I remembered the name. Good luck.

Haven't tried the TJs version but I like the Ginger People one on peanut butter sandwiches. It's interesting with cheese also.

I also had the mold experience with the TJ double devon cream butter. The first few bites were heaven but then I hit the gray mold. Ugh! :( Even I had to throw it out and I eat most things.
?'s about hard cider
Most hard cider I've seen is closer to beer in alcohol %. The Dry Blackthorn is 6% which seems pretty typical. To tenderize go with one of the dry vs. the sweet varieties. The flavor totally depends on the brand of course. My current fav is the Woodchuck Granny Smith, just tart enough to be interesting.

Great place. Closed Sunday and Monday. Make sure they include hot peppers on your sandwich if that is important to you- they forgot on mine the last couple of times.
How do you drink your coffee?
Depends. At home usually black, sometimes a spoonful of maple syrup. Vanilla rice milk and Trader Joes organic cocoa mix if I'm getting wild and crazy.
Don't usually drink coffee out. Why pay the same amount of money for 3 cups of iffy coffee as for a pound of decent beans?

Why Trader Joe's?
Affordable organics for example maple syrup for less than non-organic elsewhere.
Decent bread and cheese at good prices.
Nuts that don't cost an arm and a leg.
Usually friendly service however my usual store has gotten a little surly. I'll see if they bounce back now that the holidays are over.
Your choice for Trader Joe's BEST item
1. D'Aquino organic expresso. 2nd best coffee I've had, they didn't have any on my last visit and I was sad. It is also a full pound as opposed to 13 oz one their other varieties for about the same price.
2. The Thai lemongrass chicken rice bowls. I crave these enough that I will be rude and clear the freezer which I don't usually do with other items.
3. Their whipped cream cheese.
What's the most recent "new" food item you tried?
I loved it but I'm a newbie to that type and have never met "real" crab I didn't like. Maybe someone who knows more can answer you. ;)
Need Ideas with Maple Syrup
Just this morning I made a lovely baked French toast with pate and organic maple syrup on top. A spoonful in coffee is also nice. Your imagination is really the only limit when it comes to maple goodness!
