Hamburg, Berlin, November...
I think I got there at about 6:30 am before the sun came up - and started at the "top" and wandered all the way down. There was a great rastafarian coffee guy, some good pastry, lots to see, sample & eat. Enjoy!!
Hamburg, Berlin, November...
In Hamburg-
Cafe Gnosa - http://www.gnosa.de/ wonderful relaxed cafe for breakfast, lunch, early dinner
Gröninger Privatbrauerei - http://www.groeninger-hamburg.de/ - Excellent beer & homemade sausages
So glad to hear you're planning on the Hamburg Fishmarket - it was one of my favorite things about Hamburg - be sure to get there early!! I took a taxi from my hotel and he dropped me right at the entrance!

Denver local eats?
Thanks a ton - to clarify the "greasy spoon" comment - my main goal is locally grown food, sometimes a low budget place specializes in that type of food and I'm a true chowhound that seeks out these special places :) But, will also gladly pony up for a gourmet experience. Thanks to all for the suggestions - this helps a bunch!
Denver local eats?
By convention center, 3rd week of november, budget not an issue (love greasy spoons and gourmet) looking for a place that specializes in local produce/suppliers
Denver local eats?
I'm headed to Denver for a conference (at the convention center) and I'm looking for some dinner spots that feature local/regional cuisine - any suggestions? Thanks!
Shipping wine from France to US
I have searched the boards but have not been able to find anything too recent -- can I ship wine from France to my home address in the US? If not, what is the best way to get it home? I want to bring a few cases home and I'm willing to pay extra baggage fees if that's the best way to go about it. Thanks in advance for any advice!
Le Cordon Bleu Workshops
Has anyone ever taken one? Are they really hands on -- small courses? Any other recommendations for day cooking classes/workshops in Paris? Thanks in advance!
L'Ambroisie for lunch, Pierre Gagnaire for dinner...crazy?
we did Gagnaire for lunch and were stuffed -- can you space them out!!! give yourself time to enjoy!
Moving to Minot
You would *think* that would be the case...my sister lived there for 3 years. I'm a foodie through and through and for three years worth of visits - the pickings are pretty slim.
The Rolli-n-pin may be the home cooking place you're referring to...not far from the airport. OK breakfasts.
You can get local beef at the grocery store and there is a farmer's market starting in July - http://www.localharvest.org/farmers-markets/M974
The most upscale restaurant in town is Ten North Main - http://goodfoodnicedrinks.com/ten/food - my sister ate there a few times and said it was ok.
I thought the Bagel Stop & Book Nook had the best coffee in town - and pretty close to real bagels (for Minot standards.)
I'm not dissing Minot -- it's totally ripe for a foodie revolution! :)
Hamburg, Germany
I had a STUNNING evening at Picasso - had the grilled octopus - amazing. The bartender and owner were beyond hospitable. A HIGH recommend! The sangria was spectacular!
Hamburg, Germany
thx! A local recommended this tonight! I will give it a try tomorrow!

RIP Rafals-Detroit Eastern Market
this is a bummer - Though I do my best to shop local, I get all of my spices from http://www.worldspice.com -- excellent customer service and "old school", no credit cards necessary!
Hamburg, Germany
Headed to Hamburg soon, not too much on the boards about food in the city -- any suggestions? I'm not familiar with German food, so generic foods to look out for are welcome as well. Thanks!
Caracas, Venezuela
Hello! I have a good friend who just moved to Caracas...any foodie suggestions?? Thanks in advance!
new gas grill recommendations
I have searched the boards -- looks like Weber is a hands down winner...just checking to see if there are other updated suggestions/recommendations! We do not need a side burner but our old grill that just died (a costco tuscany grill) had a rotisserie and rotisserie infared burner that we used all the time...unfortunately, the grill completely rusted on the inside after 2 years of use. costco stood by their product and gave us a full refund...so the rotisserie is a must have feature in our new model! :)
Thanks in advance.
Milford Village Limit/ Burger Joint
next time you're in town stop at the Red Dog! They source their burgers from the Village Butcher! :)
suggestions for Jamaican celebration food
I have been invited to a party celebrating the graduation of a friend who is Jamaican -- are there any "typical" celebratory foods/drinks to bring a little bit of "home" his way (we are in the midwest)?
Thanks!

I'm looking for the best steak frites near the louvre or 16th arrondissement - any help is greatly appreciated!!!!
Nice, France in November
Any suggestions for Nice? When I search, I get a ton of hits for nice (the adjective!) :)
I'm a big chowhounder - love markets, local food, etc. I am looking forward to hearing your suggestions!
DTW - Chef's Cuisine in White Lake - closed
Does anyone have details on why Chef's Cuisine abruptly closed?
