I haven't noticed a price increase, but we don't always buy the same bread, so the total always fluctuates.....but we were this evening and everything seemed as per usual....
On the other hand, what and where is this "Qui lait cru!?"

I love the olive barrels and the great coldcuts at the Vielle Europe, and I would probably go more often if I lived around the corner.

We live around the corner from the bakery "Le Fromentier" on Laurier Est and to put it simply, we know the staff and they know us (that's how often we go). I would say it is probably impossible to find a better bakery in Montreal let alone Canada. Whenever we have guests we always go and get bread and pastries for breakfast from Le Fromentier....and everyone who eats breakfast with us always remarks that they would never ever be able to find bread so good in Ottawa or Toronto....(and that they love Montreal).....

Private Party

Hi again,

Thanks for your reply. Yes, I have another question. What was on the menu besides the fanatstic salad? I am just conerned that if we eat salmon or a cut of beef at the rehersal dinner, it will be redundant at the reception the next night!

Thanks!

Sherrisparaga,

I am interested in your opinion about the Restaurant Du Vieux Port for your private party. I am currently looking for a place for a rehersal dinner too. I have noticed that many chowhounders do not recommend this place, but, how was your night? The service, the menu, the taste, the price, the wine, the ambiance?

big group...any suggestions?

thanks very much for your suggestions! i have always been intrigued by pintxo..looks lively and nice. but have never been. it's an idea!

the bistro justine would be so perfect probably, but it's too much of hike...i would prefer not making people take cabs.

now if we were to move a little south....right d-town or to old mtl...(i'm just thinking of family staying d-town (square phillips, delta president kennedy)....what would you say? (;

Hello, I am looking for a restaurant that serves very good food that would be a nice choice for a rehersal dinner (downtown, old port, plateau, or quartier latin preferred). Any suggestions? Thanks!
