Kirkland Signature Vodka (Costco)

Costco out here in Silicon Valley has a real nice full body Kirkland Chardonnay that's well balanced on the finish. Goes great with salmon.

Kirkland Signature Vodka (Costco)

My girlfriend discovered this stuff. It goes real well with rib eye.

What kind of sauce for lobster ravioli?

I wondered how long it would take for someone to mention beurre blanc.

While I have had good success with a Lemon beurre blanc, the one that had them wiping the plate with a slice of bread was a Sherry beurre blanc with a drizzle of white truffle oil. Like the Champagne suggestion it had a slight sweetness that complements the lobster and crab raviolis. It's a good Fall/Winter sauce.

Who makes the best Carnitas in BayArea?

I can't believe it took until Oct 2008 for somebody to get this answer right. I live in Mountain View and I have to drive all the way to SSF just to get decent carnitas. It's a good thing they sell it by the pound. La Tapatia's carnitas have way more flavor that anything else I've found from SF to San Jose. Actually this place is more like a Mexican deli than a tacqueria ... killer burritos too.

Dungeness crab $/lb at your local stores?

Champagne, Sourdough and Dungeness for New Year's Eve. SOP.

Ranch 99 in Mountain View had plenty of 2.5 pounders.
Most of them seem to have an attitude problem :-)

Kirkland Signature Vodka (Costco)

I love Grey Goose but we had a vodka tasting with a couple of friends last night and Kirkland was one of the brands. This is some very smooth stuff. I think it might have a little more sweetness than the Grey Goose but straight up or on the rocks it goes down real easy. And you're right - no aftertaste, and a smooth buzz (none of us had any problems this morning). I could just pour this into a glass decanter and label it private stock.

Nobody's been crabbing since Christmas and I need a mess of 2lb crabs for New Year's.
My question about buying off the boats is, "can you buy when they come in at night or do you have to wait until the next morning?"
