Stuck in DC this past weekend due to cancelled flight. Had a very good meal at Urbana. it is connected to the Palomar Hotel. Kind of N. Italian/French. Duck fat fries were to die for. Very effecient and simpatico staff.

Petit Robert Bistro South End Tonight

Okay.. the service at the Kenmore location was just fine. One caveat.... we were there on Sunday at 11:00 and not many others there yet. The food.... well, I had a delicious tomato and red pepper soup.. for which I was eternally grateful as we walked from the Marriot and it was FRIGID out. The crispy poached eggs were very good too. Husband had an omlet that was good also. Dessert was okay.. too heavy but maybe that was just us.
Don't know as I would rush back but it worked for us while we were there.

gel mat

I have had the gel mats for abt 6 months now. Bought 2 in black. I love them! No odor, easy to clean. They look nice and not fussy on my wood floor. I know they are expensive but hey, I spend a lot of time prepping and cooking.

veggie in the Monterey Peninsula

Thanks for all your help. Great suggestions that I have passed on. My husband and I will be going back to Carmel for our 40th anniversary in late Oct. We eat most everything and can't wait to visit some favorites and maybe find some new places.

veggie in the Monterey Peninsula

My sister will be in Carmel area in March for a week. She and her husband are vegetarian.. no meat or fish.. dairy etc okay.
I have spent a lot of time in that area but as a full carnivore so I am clueless as to options for them. Can anyone help?? They also want to spend some time in Big Sur.
Many thanks.

Any authentic German restaurants in MA/NH/Southern ME?

I live not far from the Inn at Danbury, The restaurant there is the Alphorn Bistro. Chef owned and family run. Good selection of beer and Austrian and German wines. Riedel wine glasses.. much appreciated here in NH. ( Don't often see that)
The food is very good and it is a fun place.
