Helados Vazquez in Bridgeport, CT for Gelato!!!!!

Confirmed- I am friends with the owners. Very sad, was my go-to for the nights when I don't want to cook and within walking distance.

We had them cater our wedding! :(

Yankee Doodle in New Haven Closed

one of the saddest days in history

Best Sushi for $75-Food Only, 1 person

In addition to the names mentioned, try the $75 tasting menu @ Le Miu on Avenue A. Truly fantastic quality, and the "new style" sashimi is unique and delicious.

Celebratory Dinner out in austin

Zoot seems to have a nice menu, and a cheap (though a bit pedestrian) tasting menu. I will definitely take it under consideration. Winks menu seemed a bit more adventurous but according to the boards is spotty...

Celebratory Dinner out in austin

I am traveling to Austin for the first time shortly, in about two weeks. My girlfriend is testing out for a certification, and as such I would like to treat her to a nice dinner. I consider us both to be pretty adventurous eaters with good palates- and I don't mind dropping a bit of coin on the meal. I have searched through the board, and unfortunately, keep finding different opinions. I enjoy doing tasting menus, however, it looks like the Briskill is rather expensive (even compared to high end NYC restaurants that I frequent) and the news of the executive chef recently leaving leave me wondering if it is worth it. Wink looks interesting, but gets spotty reviews. Any one have any other suggestions?

Also, for BBQ I am told by my boss to go to the salt lick. He has good taste, so I am likely to take him up on this, but he is from manhattan and might not know real BBQ.

We will most likely be staying at the Wyndham garden hotel.

Whole Foods is coming to Glastonbury and Darien, CT

Norwich CT area, New Year's Day brunch

Unfortunately, norwich is not very good (save for the overpriced casinos) for dining. I am partial to La Belle Aurore, 5 Pennsylvania Ave., Niantic, 739-6767. Cheap, cosy atmosphere with some nice art exhibits on the wall. I really dug the wild mushroom omelette.

Saki Hot Or Cold? [moved from Wine board]

Chilled good sake is the only way to go. My favorite way is to serve garnished with razor-thin sliced cucumbers as a garnish. This, of course, only applies to good sake as mentioned above.

Gourmet grocery/good fish market in Fairfield, CT?

I am moving down to Fairfield on Saturday (ugh, so much packing to do!) and am spending a quiet new years eve in with my girlfriend. I have picked out a basic menu and would like to do some raw oysters as an app, and then a miso cod w/ mushrooms and risotto as the entree. However, I have no idea as to where to shop in the area, except for trader joe's. Any suggestions on a good quality fish market? (menu can be changed of course, thats just a general direction)

CT Pizza survey.

Abate's in New Haven is vastly underrated, and while I agree with the quality sliding on Pepe's/Sallys I have to proclaim my love for the pizza (and beer) at bar- the thin crust eggplant/hot pepper is one of my favorites.

For the New London area- Pizza Cucina in Niantic is a clear favorite. Being from New Haven, I am pretty critical and it is the best pie I have had in this area.
