This dining experience for which there were so many responses should be a huge WAKE UP for Eric. I have heard about so many problems at his restaurant since he opened. We have many foodie friends who have had dinner there since this place opened and will NEVER go back because of: really bad service and pretentious food
that does not translate off the menu. Portland is too small to screw up. Too bad! I hope Eric reads all of this.

Actually, we have been 4 times now. Had the squid app while waiting for take out. It was very good. Too hot to eat Pho this summer.
I totally agree about the FOH.
I must be a bit jaded as I lived in Seattle for many years and the Vietnamese restaurants there are incredible.
We will go back but they have some work to do to stay alive in this neighborhood.

I was so excited to see this restaurant open in restaurant deprived Knightville. Placed a take out order last week only to discover when I got home that 1). I had been overcharged and 2). half of the ingredients listed for the dishes I ordered were missing.
Very disapointing.

You must mean Muccis. Muccis has been in Portland for a hundred years. Anyone in the now knows to shop there for pasta, cheeses, olives, wine, inported tomatoes. etc, etc....
Try shopping on a Saturday morning- it is packed. The pizza and cannolis that Stephen Lanzalotta bakes are wonderful. He has been there for about a year after closing his own shop. Everyone already knows. Sorry but nice try.

Johnny is right. They MICROWAVE the sandwich. Had one today that I bought at Saigon variety store on Cumberland Ave. and the guy did the same.

Any suggestions on getting the BEST Banh Mi (Vietnamese sandwich w/ pate,cilantro,pickled veg. on a really good baquette.) I have tried Kim's on St. John St.
but the bread is all wrong.

Yes its reopening. A woman who worked at a restaurant in the Old Port ( forget the name of the restaurant) has leased the space. It was supposed to open yesterday but it is not ready at all. There was an article in the PPH about a month ago about it.

I agree with kick. We had lunch here recently also. We had the tacos and a burito and were completly disapointed with the flavors and the size. Will not go back. We have also spoken to 4-5 people who feel the same. Too bad.

Jays Oyster Portland Maine
I live in Portland and NEVER go to J's. It sucks. If you are not a regular the bartender will not even look at you. The food is gross, the place is filthy and most of all the oysters are TERRIBLE and not local. Don't ever go here.
