Essential Dining in Chicago?

Thank you so much! I've made a reservation for Avenues. How about a lunch recommendation? I'm staying at O'Hare, so close would be nice, but I'm willing to travel for good food.

Essential Dining in Chicago?

I'm going to Chicago this week and have one day and one night to eat wherever I want. I only get to Chicago about every 7 years, so I need to make the best of my dining on this one day. What restaurants should I have lunch and dinner at? Obviously, Charlie Trotter's is top of my consideration, although I'm not certain my dining companion will like the idea of a fixed menu, so I'm looking for alternatives. What should I not miss? Thanks!

Hollywood & Vine Restaurant

Have they closed? I called today and the number doesn't work and Open Table doesn't have them listed anymore for reservations. Let me know, I was planning on meeting some people there tonight. Thanks!

Santa Barbara

Suggestions for really good dinner in SB? I know this is a broad question....we're open to anything....Mexican, Seafood....just not the usual touristy places like Brophy Brothers. Thanks!

Anyone know what happened to: t on Fairfax?

Really? They're closed? That's too bad. they just had a great write-up in Angelenos magazine.

BEST PIZZA IN HOLLYWOOD?

Village Pizza on Larchmont. Yum!

Mozza Pizzeria - Perceptor's Report

Pictures look wonderful, thank you for sharing. I have a rambunctious one-year old, and have been wanting to go to Mozza since it opened, but we'd need to bring him. It looks like you went later in the evening so you may not be able to answer: is the pizzeria suitable for children? We'd go between 5 and 6 PM.

Valley Birthday Dinner Spot

Brandywine is one of the best dining experiences in the Valley. The owners are wonderful and the food is very fresh. They don't really have a menu because they cook whatever meat they got that day, and will suggest how it should be prepared, but you can deviate if you like. Great wine selection as well. Atmosphere isn't great, but you can go casual and not be out-of-place.

Republic on La Cienega

I had the same experince last summer. My husband and I went there for our anniversary. I had trouble even finding something to order, and then when the food came, it was dissapointing. The waiter only talked to us twice the whole night. It was tough to even order a drink. Uggg.....I'm so sick of these fashionable restaurants that look pretty and serve pretty awful food.

Wilson's or Fords' Filling Station?

I've never been to Wilson's but have been to FFS twice. I've loved it each time, as have the others at my table. Once I was with a party of 10 and the services was excellent. You can't go wrong with the food, I think, and the prices are ok. The wine selection by glass is ho-hum.
