Jade Gardens Gone
Chinese restaurants never go out of business. They just change ownership and put up new signage "GRAND OPENING!"
Advantages, Disadvantages and Uses of a cast Iron skillet
Some people have physical issues preventing them from lifting/moving heavy pans.
Advantages, Disadvantages and Uses of a cast Iron skillet
GoAskAlice doesn't say whether the cast iron was seasoned or not. I'm unable to access the article cited in Journal of Food Science.
Advantages, Disadvantages and Uses of a cast Iron skillet
Seasoning is a layer of polymerized fat. How does the iron get through that layer?

How does a properly seasoned cast iron pan leach iron?
Sushi Mike's - Dobbs Ferry
Rarely do Japanese restaurants source "fresh fish". I know some (maybe most) fish in Westchester come frozen in vacuum sealed packages. I have seen sushi chefs defrost and open them. Most popular fish like tuna and salmon are flash frozen the moment they are caught and brought on board the trawlers.
Sushi Mike's - Dobbs Ferry
jwg, I explained my experiences and that's it. Was I expecting Tsukiji fresh served Yasuda quality in Nobu ambiance? No. But with so many better and more authentic Japanese restaurants in Westchester (Nishi and Sazan both just 1 mile away in Arsdley), why even bother with Sushi Mikes?
Sushi Mike's - Dobbs Ferry
I've been there a few times but never of my own accord.
They are owned and run by Taiwanese. They tried to speak Mandarin to me. The sashimi was served room temperature. Crazy rolls or not I refuse to go back. Online reviews by non-sushi-philes cannot be trusted.
I think I give up on Pizza in Westchester
Gotcha you guys were talking about a bakery!!! OK I know exactly where it is now. Thanks!
big w [Wingdale]
His briskets are so ridiculously good. When you order it with the fat cap, Warren would smile and say "This guy knows how to eat!"
big w [Wingdale]
I told Warren not to touch the fat cap. Took 2lbs of it home. Divided into 1/2lb portions. Vacuum packed each one. Stuck it in the freezer. Anytime I want it I dunk the entire package into a pot of simmering water (sous vide style) for 45min. The fat won't melt but become nice and jiggly. It's become even juicier than fresh from smoker.
Jade Gardens Gone
No big loss. It's a wonder they stayed opened for as long as they did. The food was pretty bad and Central Seafood is only mile up the road. The times I went it was empty.
OMG!!! H Mart is opening in Hartsdale, NY!
OK I found the same organic items as what my local A&P carries. Packaged salad mix, some fruits and veggies, milk. Exact same brands.
OMG!!! H Mart is opening in Hartsdale, NY!
I didn't see any of those. H Mart is Korean market that happens to cater to a board audience. Charsiu & roast duck are too Chinese specific for H Mart.
OMG!!! H Mart is opening in Hartsdale, NY!
I didn't see any but I'll look again next time. Being Asian based, H Mart doesn't cater to the organic crowd so I doubt it.
OMG!!! H Mart is opening in Hartsdale, NY!
Seems like no one has mentioned how cheap and fresh regular vegetables and fruits are. Blows away any A&P, Stop & Shop and even Whole Foods. They stock pretty much the same items you'll find at any of those other markets.
OMG!!! H Mart is opening in Hartsdale, NY!
So happy I can cry!!! Food court, bakery, skin care, fresh prep food, kimchi, banchan galore...etc. There's finally some culture in Westchester!!! They brought Flushing/Ft Lee to Hartsdale!
Port Chester Peruvian - Acuario ?
We had dinner there on Friday night. The flavors are a bit different from what I remembered but still very good. We ordered the ceviche mixto, pescado sudado, tallarin saltado de mariscos and bistek encebollado o apanado.
Port Chester Peruvian - Acuario ?
Anyone been there lately? Are they still good? Any other good Peruvian in Port Chester other than Misti?
5 years ago I used to go there about one a month. Since I moved to further away I've only been there 3-4 times and none in the last year.
Kimchi and banchan vendor?
It's close to my friend's place so I'll definitely check it out.
Kimchi and banchan vendor?
I was in Pal Park on Fri night for dinner but too late to hit any of the stores. Will do next time. Thanks!
Kimchi and banchan vendor?
I'm not an expert but Arirang taste only slightly better than Goshen.
I will have to check out the one on Whiteman Street and Anderson Avenue. Thanks!!
