Salted Caramel Frosting

I'm dying to try this but would like to know if anyone used a candy thermometer and if so, what temp did you bring the caramel to for success? I've had problems with caramel too thin, too thick in the past... Thanks!

What's the Origin of the Word "Cocktail"?

I remember reading that in colonial times, it became popular to use a tail feather from a colorful rooster (cock) to stir ones mixed drink. Whatever the origin, I love the topic!

Pumpkin Blossoms

Thanks Kelli2006. I'd received similar advice from another blog source but unfortunately, the blossoms on my plants are covered with very prickly stuff that tends to get stuck in your skin like cactus needles. I found that out the hard way ;0) I'm sure that some varieties of puumpkin will produce edible blossoms but I'm very hesitant to try these although I do have a huge abundance of them even in mid-September. Now what to do with all the pumpkins is another story...

Pumpkin Blossoms

I have an abundance of pumpkin blossoms and am wondering if anyone has ever used them interchangably with summer squash blossoms? I hesitate to do so as it is a winter squash. I've never had them and am also wondering if they are edible at all.
