Plates, Dishes?

Hello all-

My wife and I selected an "everyday" pattern from Crate and Barrel a few years ago when we were registering for our wedding. From the start it began to chip and after a few years of everyday use the set is looking pretty shoddy. Does anyone have a recommendation for a pattern, set, or brand that holds up a bit better than others? Thanks for any help you can offer!

Bread Stone on Element

Hello All-

I've read accounts of people placing their bread/pizza stone directly on the heating element in their electric stoves. Is this recommended? It would be nice to have another available rack in my oven but i also don't want to destroy the stone. Thoughts? Thanks in advance!

Flour Issue

What is the biggest difference between bleached and unbleached all purpose flour? Will they bake and taste the same? Is the any type of food in which you should use one and not the other? Thanks for the help!

Stroganoff at Red Square

Has anyone had the Beef Stroganoff at Red Square in Mandalay Bay? I loved it. Does anyone have a recipe that is similar to what they serve? Thanks for the help!

MSP Steak Argument

It's getting ugly in here. The heat is on and we need some answers. Where do we find the Twin Cities' best bargain steak. Is it the silver butterknife steak at Murray's? The flat iron steak at Rossi's? Please help!!

Pancetta in MSP?

Does anyone know where I can find sliced Pancetta in strips as opposed to the "circles" sold in the packaged meat departments? Thanks for any help you can offer.

Problems with Pie Crust

wow! thanks for all the input. I'll run a couple prototypes and let you all know.

I've also heard of an oil based pie crust. Has anyone had any experience with this? Is it at all flaky?

Problems with Pie Crust

Hello all-

I was wondering if anyone could help with my pie crust woes. I use the same recipe as my mother but hers turns out flaky and light while mine is significantly less so. The only difference that I can determine is that I use unbleached all purpose flour and she uses the bleached all white stuff. Could this make that big of a difference? Thanks for any help you can offer.

Michigan State Help

It's a little bit of a drive (15 minutes) but I would recommend the Red Cedar Grill in Wiliamston. Good stuff.

Top Five TC Eateries

I went there a couple of times in 2001. Great atmosphere.

I have a friend that reportedly was there the night Jack White turned on Jason Blah'blah of the VonBondies

I grew up in the north Metro. I've heard a few reports on the Gopher Bar, I'll have to make it there at some point. I finally broke down and order a National Coney Island kit. It provided a quick fix but I've never been a huge National fan.

I miss Bilbo's. I was back in EL a couple years ago and I was astonished to see it gone. I hung my head and took solace in a bucket at Crunchy's.

Pierogies in Metro Detroit

My sister-in-law's father patrols the Hamtramack church bazaars for the finest in farm cheese pierogis. Delicious.

I realize it's pretty standard but Keys Cafe does standard egg dishes extremely well.

Can someone post the address of Maria's?

Minneapolis - Pheasants

Hello all-

I live in the Twin Cities and I have some family visiting over the next few days. We've promised them a "pheasant pheast" but unfortunately I wasn't very successful in the field this year. Does anyone know where I could find a store that sells frozen pheasants? Thanks for your help.
