New Kosher Hechsher?

Thank you very much. It is the symbol of Rabbi Kelemer. I always thought that Del Monte fruit cocktail wasn't kosher because of the grapes but I guess it was the cherries after all. Thank you everybody.

New Kosher Hechsher?

I saw what appeared to be a kosher hechsher on America's Choice canned fruit cocktail. I'm not sure if that is what it was but it kind of looked like a funky three lined k and o. Any ideas?

where's the best pickled herring and smoked fish in NNJ or Manhattan?

We've used Russ and Daughters for years, not being strictly kosher, they are the best but now, with regret, we can't use them. I wish they would stop selling sturgeon and chopped liver.

Years ago there was something called sour milk, not sour cream that was quite popular. Is it still around? Does anybody know what it was called in Yiddish? I've heard Shmetana but that is sour cream for sure.

Farfel Noodles - Where to buy?

I think your bubbe means one of two things when she says farfel noodles. Either tiny square noodled that we use in soup, which by the way we call farfel. They can be found on the UWS, Streit's I believe makes them and others. Or she might be talking about barley/toasted barley made by Mother's and I think Streit's. It's a noodle product not a vegetable but still call barley shaped noodles. They're both delicious. Try the Kosher Marketplace on Broadway.

chocolate covered frozen bananas

I know Trader Joe's sell kosher chocolate covered frozen bananas but if I wanted to make them with the kids, just for fun, any suggestion on the coating? I see boxes of sticks and chocolate in the fruit section but they're not certified.

OK Big Question about Mac & Cheese

I'm visiting my Mom in Florida, I live in NJ but Publix house brand Mac and Cheese is OU. I'm bringing some boxes home to try them. The pic looks like Kraft. I thought it would be a good change from Whacky Mac. Any ideas of house brands in NJ that are Kosher?

opinions on Kosher American cheese

I'm looking for opinions on kosher american cheese, i.e. Miller's, HaOlam, etc. vs the mainstream brands. I know there is no comparison if you haven't tasted the main brands but if you ever have, could you give me your opinion? I thought HaOlam was better than Millers in taste to Kraft but I've since changed my mind. Obviously, we've recently gone cholov yisroel and orthodox kosher.

Is Rokeach still making Nyafat?

I started this thread but the olive oil intigues me. Also, for a matzoh brie, what's the opinions of frying it on olive oil and adding onion powder to the pre fried mixture. Question is, how much onion powder to garner the same taste?

What happened to frozen strawberries in syrup for Passover?

I too remember Fairmont strawberries with sour cream. That was so delicious. I've been looking for them myself.

No votes for Horowitz? I grew up on it and although I know it's really Manischewitz now, I still think it's tasty and makes a great Matzoh brie

fish substitute for fried scallops

I've had fried "scallop" nuggets with tartar sauce at a kosher hotel. I believe they used Halibut but when I tried it at home, we didn't like the Halibut. Any other suggestions?

Is Rokeach still making Nyafat?

I actually called RAB the other day, they own Rokeach, Manischewitz, Horowitz, Seasons, etc. and the woman told me they discontinued Nyafat about a year ago. I asked why and she said she wasn't sure but it was a product that was outsourced and perhaps they no longer chose to make it. There goes my matzo bries.

Is Rokeach still making Nyafat?

I've been looking for onion flavored nyafat and have heard that it is no longer available. I'm in Northern NJ. Does anyone know if this is true or where I can find it?

Where can I find Rokeach Nyafat in NJ, NYC or FL

This year I've been having trouble finding onion flavored Nyafat in NJ, where we live and in FL, where we are for Passover. Someone said Rokeach stopped making it. If it's because it's trans fats, I know restaurants can't serve it anymore but in my own home?
