Vegetarian Restraunts on the Upper West Side?

I had a lunch at Peacefood. Left hungry and unhappy.

near Cobble Hill, Brooklyn - Looking for a place for a wedding dinner

The wedding rehearsal will be in Cobble Hill.

I am looking for a recommendation to a good restaurant where they can host a dinner for about 40 people. We would like a place that is quiet enough for conversation and has good food. There will be some vegetarians attending so we need that option to work.

A Cobble Hill location would be ideal, but someplace near by would also work. Maybe Brooklyn Heights?

NY Foodie driving I-95 to Florida looking for interesting places to eat

I am searching "I-95" and reading a number of postings now.
I thought that I had searched a few weeks ago and had not seen anything posted recently.
Some of the posts are relatively new. I don't know how I missed them.

I am finding lots of recommendations on BBQ that sound good.

NY Foodie driving I-95 to Florida looking for interesting places to eat

We are going to drive down to Florida in early November to go to my son's wedding in Captiva.

Can you recommend some interesting, tasty places to eat that are close to I-95?

Local foods places would be best with the emphasis on good food. They don't have to be fancy or expensive. Diners, small restaurants would be great. BBQ or other local specialties would be fine. I don't want to detour too far from I-95.

NY Foodie heading to Disney needing opinions on the below:

As a NY Foodie you will really like Victoria and Alberts. Think of it as an economy version of Per Se or Jean George.

California Grill was once great. Many changes have happened. Try to get a table by the window for the fireworks. You have to get there very early for that.

Blue Zoo was very good. But, I have not been there for 3 years.

Top 5 Most Overrated in Manhattan

30 years ago, the corned beef at Carnegie Deli was really great.
I have been there 3 times in the last 10 years and each time resolved never to go again. Nowadays the corned beef is just dry and there is lots of it.

I don't know where to get good corned beef sandwiches anymore in Manhattan.
The pastrami on club at Katz's is still great.

I liked the food at the 79th Street location.
But, I only went once after they moved and was very disappointed.

Captiva: need help finding a restaurant for a wedding party

The plan is to have the wedding in the off season. Sometime in November.

What are your suggestions for really good food and the right sort of ambiance for a wedding party. Maybe 30-50 people or so.

TOP "essential" New York Restaurants $ to $$$$

Get your pastrami at Katz's on a club roll instead of rye.

Per Se sometimes has last minute cancellations. Call aroun 4 PM for same day.
Often people who make reservations 60 days in advance find that they can't get there.

It is also easier to get into Per Se for lunch. Try that.

By the way, the last minute reservation trick also worked at French Laundry a few years ago.
On the other hand, Per Se did not really originate in New York. It came straight from French Laundrey in Napa. They added a great view in New York and doubled the price. And it is great and has evolved since landing.

At Katz's, get pastrami on "club". They will give you half sour pickles but ask for the full sour ones. Even better, ask for the pickled tomatoes. They hide those behind the conter and you have to know about them and ask for them.

Barne Greengrass is a classic old New York Jewish "appetizer" store. Dairy. Smoked fish. Lox & eggs.

Classic New York delis are meat places like Katz's. Pastrami, corned beef.

There used to be dozens of good and sometimes great NY Jewish appetizer places is Manhattan. They all closed years ago except for Barney Greengrass and Barney doesn't live there anymore. Skip it.

Barney Greengrass is basically a lox / bagels / egg place.
Look at their menu.

They do have pastrami & eggs. They don't have pastrami sandwiches.

fatty crab - thumbs down

I agree too. I was at the UWS location a few days ago.
The food was really delicious.
The noise was way too loud.
The draft beer was perfect.

I will go back.

Upper West side Recs

I tried West Branch and was disappointed. But, I may not have ordered correctly.
Fatty Crab just opened next to West Branch. I have not been there yet.

Saigon Grill is always good. And if you have a telephone and live in the W. 80s the food will be there in 20 minutes.

Celeste is very good Italian. Great, unusual cheese course dishes. Always crowded. Cash only. If you get there before 7 PM you will get a table. Later than that you will probabl have to wait. No reservations.

I was at Dovetail during restaurant week. I think that it is over rated. Unusual flavor combinations that don't quite work well together.
