Batignolles for lunch

I'm looking for a good place for lunch in the Batignolles area. Not too touristy please.

A place to meet my boss and his wife for drinks near le Maurice

All these suggestions are lovely. We may leave it up the weather and a last minute call. K-B worked out well. He's since moved to more glamorous digs and has become a budding foodie thanks to the French labor law of having to feed interns lunch. "Mom... have you ever tasted bone marrow" ...*sigh* "yes, my son" :)

A place to meet my boss and his wife for drinks near le Maurice

By chance my boss and his wife will be in Paris the same time my family and I will be there. (Our son is graduating from Sci Po.. Yes we are proud) we are going to meet them for drinks on a Sunday evening. Any suggestions? I want to impress them by recommending a great place that will be memorable, not necessarily over the top fancy, just very Paris. Unique. They've never been to Paris before. Any ideas?

JT, since we may be eating a bit early, maybe 7, do you think there will be a long wait time at Pierre Sang?

foodie finds near Republique

Looking for some interesting bistrots right around Republique for the first night of a vacation with jet lagging teenagers.

Last year we went to Paul Bert and we were all far too crabby.

foodie finds in Kremlin-Bicetre (or porte d'italie)

I will do that for sure. In the meantime, we went to Commes a Savonnieres on Saturday and loved it. The oeufs en cocotte were a little under seasoned, but otherwise, brilliant. Saturday wine tasting at Le Dernierre Goute was fun too. One of my favorites spots and something of a ritual.

of course, he can go where his heart takes him, but I have encouraged meeting a nice girl with an established family vineyard and a guest house.

The French Chowhound community is so well informed!

I understand that my son's apt is just over the Paris border, so he will be able to take advantage of the Porte d'Italie and Tolbiac places mentioned. Many thanks to all posters.

Our son (a student at Sci-po, yes I'm proud) just moved to the Kremlin-Bicetre area. We will visit often and are looking for good little restaurants or unique food shopping. Any ideas??

Not happy with Trader Joe's coffee.

try Karma Coffee on Route 20 in Sudbury Mass. They roast right there. Worth the trip.

how to do a clam bake? [moved from the Boston board]

I'm going to spend a big birthday in Nantucket (see my post re Nantucket restaurants..) But I'm thinking now that a clam bake on the beach might be even better. Does anyone know how to do this??

Thanks all.

dinner in Nantucket?

My husband and I will be in Nantucket in August. It will be a big birthday and I am looking for a great dining experience. We eat in alot of great Boston restaurants, so I'm not looking for stuffy and expensive. Any ideas? Thanks everyone.

Unlock the mystery of the Chicago-style Italian Beef

Ok so I tried a recipe I found on the internet. Slow roasted the meat. Juiced up the sauce with veal stock, tried herbs worchester and tobasco. I used a meat slicer. Unfortunately it's only just ok. I was going to make this for New Years Eve, but now I just want to take out from All Star Sandwich (if possible for a crowd) or order from Chicago. They are probably the same price.
Any thoughts?

Best of Boston treats

How about Salt water taffy? It is technically Rhode Island, but it travels well.
