Markets near Brickell

So, we are newly Kosher in the Brickell area. What are our options for Kosher products/supermarkets? Where can we find the best cold cuts (preferably not pre-sliced). Any advice is appreciated.

Thanks!

Sufganiyot - Miami/Ft. Lauderdale

I am looking for the best sufganiyot. Does not have to be a kosher bakery, although wouldn't mind if they were. What makes a great sufganiyot, IMHO a good jelly to dough ratio. Sufficient jelly to get some in almost every bite.

Willing to go anywhere from Ft. Lauderdale to Miami.

Thanks!

Ribs - Miami or Ft. Lauderdale

Looking for good BBQ Ribs. Have been to Tom Jenkins and enjoy them. Don't mind going back, but also want to look at other options. Been looking at Smoket BBQ in Miami as another option. Any reviews? Would prefer something more sit-down dinner than Tom Jenkins.

Thanks!

Thanks drtodd for the schedule. It will be Tues, so that won't work.

Dinner between Tampa and Orlando

Thank you Sunshine. I guess if that is our only option, so be it. Any specific area to go to? Don't want to be driving around town.

Dinner between Tampa and Orlando

I am going to be in Tampa next week and wanted to meet my brother, who lives in Orlando, somewhere in between for dinner. Don't know the area at all and need some suggestions. Doesn't have to be upscale, but would like to avoid a chain. Any suggestions?
Thank you,

Where to find herring (not in a jar)?

Just moved back to Ft. Lauderdale from NYC. Was a huge fan of the pickled herring in cream sauce from Russ & Daughters. Looking for a place in Ft. Lauderdale, Miami, Palm Beach to find good herring (not in a jar).

Thanks,

Best banana pudding in NYC - in a restaurant

Blue Ribbon has a great Banana Walnut bread pudding. They always can give you 1/2 banana nut and 1/2 chocolate chip bread pudding if you ask.

Need a restaurant recommendation walking distance from Grand Central!

Pera is another option. Good Mediterranean for the neighborhood.

I am looking for a place to get a good burger in the west village. Preferably more restaurant style place than bar location, which is why we don't want to go to corner bistro.

wedding in ny area

Our wedding was at Temple Israel in Lawrence. The food was amazing, people still mention it to me now (more than 1 yr ago). In-house glatt Kosher catering. Dancing and seating are up to you (mixed or not). The venue is amazing. When my wife and in-laws took me my jaw dropped. One of the nicest cocktail hour rooms I have seen.

Best sufganiyot

So Chanukah is coming to an end and I am looking for the best sufganiyot before the holiday wraps up. Preferably south of 42nd street, but doesn't have to be. Personally, the best ones have a good amount of jelly. Thanks!

ISO Custom Cake Bakery

Cakeman Raven. Not in Manhattan, his store is in Brooklyn (Fulton St.), but they make great cakes. I believe he even made something for the Giants Super Bowl victory parade. Hope this helps.

Russ and Daughters-the other standouts

Last time I was there they recommended getting the wasabi roe to put on top of the whitefish/salmon salad. It was excellent!!!

Not Healthy Manhattan Tour

Brunch - Norma's in Le Parker Meridien. Might be a little over budget, but brunch is breakfast and lunch so it works out. Everything is good, best idea is get something salty and something sweet and share both dishes. Portions are huge.

A list of Montreal's "must-eats" should be a permanent fixture on this board [Moved from Quebec board]

Sounds a little too much like Zagat, which has exactly what you are looking for. I would agree that this is not the purpose of chowhound. Everyone has a different opinion and although it is frustrating to search, not find what you are looking for and then have others send you links that are relevant, the new post will lead to new debates and fresh information. This is a plus over Zagat.

Not Healthy Manhattan Tour

hot chocolate - Jaques Torres (and if u decide to go into Brooklyn again get the ice cream).
And I second pomme frites.

Thanksgiving help in NYC

The wife and I have invited our family for Thanksgiving at our apartment. We are now trying to figure out how we are going to feed 17 people with our 24 inch oven. Obviously, we need help! Any suggestions for kosher catering/take-out? Anywhere in Brooklyn or Manhattan works. Not sure of the menu yet, probably typical thanksgiving fare, but wouldnt be opposed to a couple more eclectic side dishes.

I called Pomegranate and they said they will have a menu in a couple of weeks. We have bought there deli food in the past and it was good. Has anyone tried there catering/take-out?

Thank you for your help.

Using applesauce instead of butter

We are trying to cook healthier and are wondering how we can substitute applesauce (or something else) for butter. What is the ratio of applesauce to butter called for in the recipe? What are the results when using applesauce? Is the change significant? When is it worth making the change (dinners, desserts, muffins, brownies, etc) Any help is appreciated.

Thanks,
